Dear forumners,

It is my pleasure and honour to announce a new Co-Moderator for PuristSPro Montblanc Forum, taking over from Patrick Y.

Joining Mike Ting on patrol with the roles of Host, Marshal and Guru is Robin Wong a.k.a. jrwong23. 

Based in Singapore, Robin will complement Mike in USA for the worldwide coverage of the new dynamic Montblanc.

His passion has greatly influenced the dynamism over the last months; and the fact that it is rooted in real ownership experience makes it even more credible.

Please welcome Robin to his new role.

Well deserved. You've single handedly created my interest in Montblanc, which I only viewed as a pen maker with some supplemental luxury products, and one which I now view as one that is a credible a watchmaker as the other brands that we are all so familiar with.

I am very humbled and honored with this appointment to contribute more to PuristSPro and especially to the Montblanc forum.

I have loved this forum from day one I started and have made many dear friends since.
I would also like to specially thank Mike and Patrick for being such nice moderators for Montblanc, sharing good reviews, encouraging and celebrating with us on our watch purchases and creating a Montblanc family on PuristSPro! It was because of both of you, other moderators who reviewed MB watches and other Montblanc friends here that made me buy my Montblanc Villeret (and cemented by love for the brand's watches).

Thank you for the opportunity and I hope I can continue the good work of Patrick and support Mike and all of you on this Montblanc virtual family.

Indeed Montblanc is getting more interesting as a watch brand since a couple of years ago and that climb up the horological ranks has gotten even more exciting with SIHH 2014! Hope to meet you one day in person to have a few drinks. I mentioned on one of my posts last year when I got my Montblanc Villeret.... I was very drunk with champagne in a MB event... but I was awoken and sober again once I saw the Villeret calibres! It was exactly this calibre 13.21 that woke me up! Since then I couldn't forget the beautiful Montblanc Villerets I saw and even a Lange Datograph purchase couldn't replace my love for the Villerets. The rest of the story you know Here's a picture of me struggling initially with the drinks but Julien and the calibres waking me up! Cheers Robin

Robin, what a pleasant bit of news  Please accept my best wishes as you now become a keeper of the Purists ethic: Passion, Opinion, Information.  

I think you have posed many excellent questions.

I'll let Robin answer the questions from a collector's point of view.

But since he is a new moderator, please let me chime in for certain aspects of your questions...

On PuristSPro, moderators serve 3 roles:  Host, Marshall, and Expert.

Host- Keeping the forum moving and lively.  Having help from fellow PuristS (i.e posting) makes being a host easier and quite honestly more rewarding.  However this is a difficult balance.  Since Montblanc is still gaining acceptance, there can be "periods of silence" and the forum will be stagnant.  To counter this we, the moderators, will post to stimulate conversation...of course this leads to your impression " the trend of moderators starting the majority of threads reflects a sign of growing disinterest by forum participants".  I hope when more Montblanc owners find out about our forum, there will be more spontaneous posts from the community...this will be good for "flow" but will make role #2 more difficult.

Marshall- Our #2 role is hard to master.  Remember PuristSPro members are all over the world, of all different nationalities and cultures.  I hope you all will keep things civil or Robin as he learns the ropes

Expert- We are always learning.  While owning a Montblanc watch doesn't necessarily makes one an expert, it does allow the owner to review and share certain experiences like aftersales service which may not always be available.  Robin has a good breadth of horological knowledge...now he needs to apply it to Montblanc without bias (which is a hard thing to do..being critical of a brand you love).

In the end, success as a moderator, is not judged by us but by YOU.  If we succeed, you will visit the MB forum each time you are on PuristSpro to learn something new or just to check in with fellow collectors.  Of course perhaps we can convince you one day that MB is "worth" the investment

To quote from one of my all time favorite shows: 

"making your way in the world today takes everything you've got, taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot.  Wouldn't you like to get away?  Sometimes you want to go where everyone knows your name and they're always glad you came. "
