...the Richard Lange "Pour le Mérite."  I think it encompasses everything that Lange stands for: impeccable craftsmanship, elegance, functionality, and beauty in design and execution.  The three-piece enamel dial is luminous and legible, and perfectly balanced by the blued hands and red numerals at the 15 second intervals.  The fusée-and-chain mechanism is gorgeously finished, should be very precise, and is a technical marvel.  Lange succesfully leverages the techniques of modern watchmaking to execute a timepiece that pays homage to what is best about the mechanical watches of yesteryear.

The RL PLM, without any hesitation.

First, because the the whole watch is magnificiently understated, classic, elegant, timeless.

You see a white dial?

Nooo: This is an enamel dial.

Look closer, under another light, then you will see the warmth, the uncomparable depth of the enamel dial.

You see a White Metal Case?

This is Platinum, Sir...Heavy, dense, a pure pleasure to wear it in this metal.

You think no tourbillon?

And if the answer was better than just observing that there is no tourbilllon on this watch?

The RL PLM is ont only the most interesting Lange watch of this year, but of the 4 or 5 past years, to me, and I can't be happier to have seen the Birth of such a watch...Sorry, such a Masterpiece.

Simply captivating...

I have no doubt many will choose the RL PLM but I'm sticking my guns for the new size 1815!

Finally they got it right (IMVHO) with all 3 habds in blued steel (excep for the platinum version this year) and not just having the seconds hand in blue steel with the other 2 hands in the same material as the casing. While the new size is bigger, it will still be a comfortable 40mm and a very wearable watch. For me, its a re-launch of a great looking and simple classic.

Having a small collection of Pocketwatches, this is as close as it could come to mimicking those masterpieces. Understated on the face and deeply original in the movement - mesmerizing in their complexity. Understated elegance at its best.

I believe that the calender that is to be given away is similar to the one that I already have, so i'm not in this for the prize. I prefer to give the opportunity to own such a marvelous goodie to another fellow Lange PuristS.

As for my reasons for choosing the RL PLM, simply said it is the upgraded superlative version of my current favourite Lange watch which is the RL. The accuracy of this watch is phenomenal already in itself, yet from all the reports that i'v read, the PLM is supposedly meant to be even MORE accurate than a tourbillion, and probably the "base" RL. It's incredible just thinking about it, and being the super accuracist, I believe this is truly one for the ages for me!

I don't yet own a Lange, though it is my favorite brand.  In my estimation, the RL PLM exemplifies the brand.  An unbridled expression of magnificent watchmaking, without pandering to fanfare.

The new 1815 is my favorite.  I was saving up for the older version when they discontinued it.  I saw the Saxonia in real life, but it didn't seem to have the same historical look I like in the 1815.  The new 1815 gives me a new goal, and I think it's great that it's a little bigger, but not too big or too thick.

The new movement for a re-designed 1815, the esence of Lange in the the dial, case, and movement, longer power reserve, improved balance wheel, 40mm case, what's not to love?  True, the PLM is a marvel, but it's out of my reach. ;-)

In the past my favorit was Lange 1815 und now I like the new 1815 also.

Without any hesitation it is the new 1815 in any form. The reason is simple: we have a global recession and these simple Lange models offer the best value for the money available. During these times an understatement wath is the only sensible purchase. It means that if I should put the new 1815s into some kind of order, it would be:

1. WG

2. Platinum

3. Coloured gold

No question, this is the winner.

The Richard Lange Pour le Mérite is by far my favorite offering because of the tremendous tour de force technology behind it.

The chain and fusee transmission is a simple concept as it spreads torque very evenly across the chain. However, when it was first introduced some 200 years ago, because of crafting technology, it was not feasible to produce such small precision components at the time. Today, thanks to sophisticated machinery, Lange has revisited a good but previously unfeasible idea that has been dormant for nearly 200 years. This really furthers Lange's motto of "State of the Art Tradition."

I love the grey dial, I hope Lange does a Datograph with this dial color in WG.

It has to be the Richard Lange PLM.  I especially love the dial...enamel, what can I say.  Right up there with the Langematik Anniversary, which IMHO, is one of the most beautiful, understated, watches ever produced, but then again, I'm biased.

I think this watch is absolutely stunning! Enamel dial...fusee...it is the pinnacle of watchmaking in an understated and sublime package!

If only the MSRP were $60- $70k less!!!!

But at least I can drool over the pictures!

They are all very nice especially the Datograph Perpetual but for me, what moved me at first glace of all the new releases and stll does is this piece of art.

Although I can never buy it for my own wearing pleasure, to me, the choice of the blue mop, the setting of the diamonds, choice of strap comes together in a very very tasteful and beautiful manner.  One that catches your eye but in a subtle, not overly loud manner and most importantly for me, in a manner that doesn't tire easily.

Sure its not the most complicated when compared to the Dato Perpetual but this to me, can stand as one of the great testaments to Lange's class and finish.

Just my opinion of course.
