Thank you everyone. As a Lange beginner, your advice is fresh and useful to me.

anaroku, happy that the 1815 Chrono appeals to you!

I love it too. Pink gold is my colour too - including discontinued models, you have four excellent references to choose from:

  1. The gen. 1 (disc.) with the back dial (quirky, classic - stunning)
  2. The gen. 2 (disc.) with the white dial (no pulseometer chapter ring though)
  3. The gen. 3 with the white dial and blued hands (I must say, my absolute favourite)
  4. The gen. 3 with the black dial and pink gold hands (bold, stunning)

There are no bad choices among them - go with the one that smiles at you. If you are a new only buyer, the last two are your only options (other than NOS which is almost impossible to find wth Lange given low annual production numbers and popularity of all their chronographs).

I'd have to agree with posters here who've said you might well be pretty happy with the 1815 Chrono and an Odysseus if these are indeed each available to you as a first-time Lange buyer. I'd also agree with others who have said that you ought go straight for the Dato (again, if available to you as a new Lange buyer). It's the same base caliber - the game-changing, endlessly delightful L951. If it were me...I'd go for either the 1815 Chrono or the Dato - I feel this really is a situation to value quality over quantity.

Very best wishes with your deliberations and - whichever way you decide to go - I hope you will soon join the Lange owners' circle.

I suspect that the the OP needs to buy the 1815 Chrono or some other Lange as a bundle in order to get the Steel Odysseus.
to the OP, you might find that have both expressions of Lange meaning a Lange with a big date and a Lange without a big date (1815 Chrono) will be a nice combination.

I see, that may have been the intention. What does OP stand for?

OP is you (Original Poster or Original Post). My suggestion...

... is to get 2 preowned Langes: (1) a Gen1 Datograph (403.031 RG/black dial or 403.035 PT/black dial), and (2) a steel Odysseus Datomatic. Those seem to be the two watches you want the most, and they're often available, so why bother with anything else (especially if the only reason is bundling)? It'd be a great two-Lange collection. In fact, you may be able to negotiate a good pre-owned price from a major dealer if you want to buy both of those pieces at the same time.

Thanks. When you say Datomatic, do you mean an automatic(=self winding) chronograph mechanism?

Sure! I meant the 363.179. That's the "standard" (unlimited) steel Odysseus that is self-winding and displays date/date. No chronograph. That model is called a "Datomatic,"

Odysseus is the family name, and Datomatic is the name of that model. There are 2 Odysseus models (so far): Datomatic and Chronograph. The Chronograph is a limited edition of 100.

I was assuming you meant the Odysseus Datomatic (not Chronograph) when you said the boutique might get you a steel Odysseus.

Was I correct in that assumption, or did the boutique tell you they could reserve an Odysseus Chronograph (vs. Datomatic) -- if you'd actually prefer the Chronograph?

Thank you I'm talking about the non-chronograph day-date odysseus

Thank you for your kind advice. I will probably do that.

Please do share with credit next time.

On your dilemma, it'll be interesting to have 1815 Chrono and Datograph. As ı saw from most of my friends, eventually one just leaves the stable!

Though as you say, a pink gold / argente dial 1815 Chrono of the current gen with the black dial platinum 1815 CHrono could be a power couple!

I edited the post to add the credit. Hope you're well!

Thanks my friend.

It’s interesting to hear your thoughts about which chrono eventually gets sold..
