There is no strong data I can present on that and it is really depending on the person. In the end, people who has both are rather small sample size haha!
Two school of thoughts I see:
1- The collector just wants to jump on Datograph as the iconic piece, but without actually being ready for its heft and aggressive look. Imo, the first generation Datograph is one of the hardest watches to get used to - unless you are familiar with such a characteristic appearance from its dial to case to lugs, and of course its weight. Some just do not, and it leaves, this collector opts for the 1815 Chrono instead.
2- 1815 Chrono lacks in that iconic department, and when one leans over Datograph, it just leaves the table as a "duplicate" piece. Albeit, it is surely not!
