Tim Mosso reporting steel Lange coming

 By: Francoamerican : August 13th, 2019-17:40
What do you folks think about a steel Lange conceptually?

I am not certain if i'm allowed  to post a link so i won't

He has no details but it's a safe inference it will be something to compete with nautilus et al

People have been asking for it for years. [nt]

Finally? They caved.

Ti Datograph on a Ti bracelet would have been interesting, but I guess we’ll start with some steel.

I for one am excited to see it. I hope Lange delivers, assuming this isn't mere rumor...

After witnessing the madness surrounding PP, AP and Rolex steel models, it's no wonder that Lange, with perhaps some nudging from Richemont, has decided (again, if not mere rumor) to jump into steel.

Steel sports watch?

Or just a steel watch in general?

Hopefully steel sports... [nt]

i think something like FPJ CB or - more a daily watch between 15k$ to 20k$

 By: maverickmahesh : August 14th, 2019-13:42
it will avoid the trap of ALS trying to get into the zone of Nautilus, Subs or GMT !
an 1815 steel version will be a good daily wearer imho.

Yes that’s what I want too! Just “a watch” [nt]

He didn’t specify

 By: Francoamerican : August 13th, 2019-19:25
But it’s extremely unlikely imo that it will be a steel version of an existing watch.

Agreed. Is this a 2020 SIHH release...any indication of timing? [nt]

If so, it will probably be a limited edition, which would be a shame. [nt]

Like you, I hope it won't be the case. I don't like unobtainable as a theme of collection. [nt]

I was quite intrigue. Highly possible and wish it to happen with the hype around some steel models from PP, AP, Rolex going out of control. Doubt they will waterproof existing model, but hope they dont go too avant-garde with their design. Sport watch with Lange design identity is what I am looking forward to

Would love to see a steel 1815 chrono🙂 [nt]

I'm surprised they haven't made it sooner!

Very curious to find out what it will look like assuming the rumors are true.

I would be excited about a steel Lange

 By: sham1 : August 13th, 2019-20:18
as long as it is not of a Zeitwerk which is too large for me.

For the 25th Anniversary you mean? [nt]

If Tim says so, it is true. I wonder what it can be. A steel version of an existing model , or something new, like a more casual watch. Pilot Watch? [nt]

If it were designing it, it would be a non-sports, non-dress, steel daily wearer of some type! [nt]

I’m not really sure

 By: Brego : August 13th, 2019-22:49
Lange in its modern iteration has not been around that long. I’m worried about their brand perception if they release a steel sports model. AP with its long history became defined by its steel sports watch and Patek is trying to not to succumb to that malaise.

There is a risk, indeed. But on another side, GP is not cannibalized by the Laureato, and Patek suffers less than AP with the Nautilus.

Believe me. The sports watch will not change much. People act like it but in the end they will get another watch from a more known brand even though they might like the design. [nt]

By: Pour le Mérite : August 14th, 2019-00:23

To my knowledge it will be released upon end of october. [nt]

It saddens me when my favorite watch brand caves in to a trend....

 By: Lankysudanese : August 14th, 2019-00:41
...when their main claim to fame was being avante garde (with the Lange 1, Datograph and [lately] the Zeitwerk).

IMHO, if someone is debating between a nautilus and a SS Lange in terms of which brand to enter...then they aren’t really considering the entire breadth of offerings from either brand. However, I do believe that some people are just looking for a waterproof watch in a non-precious Metal.

It’ll be interesting to see
