Any chance of seeing a new approach to case design at Lange? Not as a replacement to their standard design, but something different for interest’s sake? Perhaps some solidly German but nonetheless different lugs? I’m talking here about the round case design rather than pleading for form watches. Their design is excellent and the polished and brushed finishes beautiful, but it’s unusual that they stick so rigidly to the same design, acknowledging small tweaks to the bezel in recent times.
The brushed and polished case is very nice but I have found the lugs to be consistently too long for some of the models. It will be nice to have different cases for different models but I guess that will mean an extra cost which will be passed on to the customer.
You know, brands are reluctant to proceed with such moves because the identity is a kind of special chemistry and they don't want to lose the magic formula. But I really thank Lange should add something new in their collection from a design perspective.
The case is fairly flat and wears a little larger than the diameter listed would suggest. I personally like a larger watch (40mm+), and find even the 38.5mm pieces quite wearable due to the construction of the case. The case architecture IMO also communicates sturdiness. They do not appear delicate in any way.
I too really hope Lange adds something new in their collection in 2019 from a design and creative perspective. Love their movements but their cases are boring.
However, i for one love the Lange DNA across all lines. I love a watch brand that can be recognized through its unified design. Lange is unique and making different cases will dilute the brand IMO.
Lange do make changes on the lugs, but it does not mean the "new" designs are lovely. Check out the enclosed photo for different models. I'd say I love the long lugs.
