You could also spend several hundred thousand... apparently even close to two million ... on a Cartier Crash, chasing an absurdly overhyped market. And what do you end up with? A rather mediocre movement housed in a distorted case. Any skilled goldsmith could make such a case with their eyes closed.
Or you could look, for instance, at 20-30 year old Breguet, where the level of finishing is vastly superior, along with a range of complications that Cartier wouldnβt even attempt to produce.
That said, I know ... it ultimately comes down to personal taste. But in some cases, any sense of proportion, reality, and logic seems to disappear entirely.
