I'm going to speculate here that the failure point might be the case and not any gaskets, as they might have made the back thinner for the alarm volume, and 1000 bar is a lot of pressure. Then again, it does have a lot of pushers...In any case, I clean mine by putting it under tap water. No problems (so far)...

A serious depth rating was top of the list of features for space flight at NASA or ESA. This watch is a technical marvel. Have you ever dived to 50m 😉

Thank you dear Capitan. Not sure why this days 50 m water resistant seems to be quite not enough. One dive I forgot to take off 50m no tie down screw speedy. We only got to 18 m bottom when I realised that. OK, i was not brave enough to use pushers
underwater, but watch survived np. and still working fine. Bet because still had 32m margin !
No, never to 50m but I only take into water watches that are at least 100mWR (the description of 50mWR by the swiss watch industry is not very satisfying (no shower, no jumping!!))

The technician at the Omega boutique advised me on 50 meter speedmasters “don’t even shower with it” having said that I too rinse it with tap water.
I think it’s good that Omega
keeps its relationship with NASA and space flight even though I’m not a flightmaster fan…🫤
He won't have to worry about "dropping" the battery clip and its tiny screw on the floor of his spacecraft, that's for sure
but he might have to float around the capsule looking for them when they "launch themselves" into space
