You might tell a guest that you're a stockbroker, but you wouldn't try to establish a business relationship then and there. It is precisely that tone we try to maintain.
Excluding links to commercial sites permits a level of decorum not found elsewhere. It is not a coincidence that folks like Graham and Miki prefer the company here. If the insularity of our forums is unappealing, there are, as you noted recently, other forums that will cater to your tastes.
