Hello purist friends. I started collecting vintage watches because of this particular watch: Omega 166.032 Here is where two of my favorite brands interwind: Jaeger-LeCoultre and Omega. You'll see, I've attended to several JLC Master Classes, and I love t...
I am really amazed of the outcome, the case has no pitting because of the rust and keeps part of the original finish. I hope you enjoyed. Greetings. René
I tried to write the least boring I coul to my purist bros. The dial is something I had to deal a lot with since, as you can see by the pictures, it was damaged beyond salvation. But in the end I think it ended moderately well. Best. René P.S. I like your...
Yes, that is my beagle boy Drago. And here he is with his sister Bona (same litter). But we have to be apart temporarily now that Bangkok stands at risk of a major flood. They were sent away to the safety of a coastal town. I will visit them this weekend ...
Congratulations for your two beautiful beagles Ruckdee, ans I hope and pray for You and your people to get away safe of this menace. This is my american coker boy coffee, as a baby (4 monts old) and now as an adult (5 years) Well I tried but there are som...
We can also see the BIG smile on that watch. Not only that, you've put a big smile on our faces too. That watch was on the brink of death. Awesome restoration job, Rene, Congrats. It is encouraging too. Would love to see some pictures of that restored mov...
I smile every time I see and strap it to my wrist. It was a daring job, as I wrote, but really satisfying one! I'm glad you liked it I promise to open the caseback and take some pics for you. I'll add them on this very post latter. Best. René
You're too kind. I guess my watchmaker could have done better finding original parts in better shape, wether used or new, but what wonders me is that this beauty is working again with the least parts changed. Best. René
Externally it may bear the scars of the hard life , but it's soul will last forever, Especially when we have someone like you to take care of it. Enjoy you old war horse. Ed.
You have given my watch a name I really like! MY WAR HORSE! He he... Thank you Ed. And thanks for your kind words. I agree on what you say, they may bear scars but we love them, that's why we have them. It has happened to me several times that I find an o...
Don't know what will turn up. I wouldn't mind a battered polaris or. Red 5513 sub, either and the list goes on....... The hunt will be fun. Like Bill says " good hunting". All the best . Ed.
Yeah! That's what I intend someday, If you know about a source, please send me a PM. I've tried to get one for this beauty, as well as new day date discs (No matter if in english or french he he...) I'm glad you like it, since it's dedicated for my brothe...
It crossed my mind also... but in the end I decidet It should live well what it was denied in it's former life. It's a great watch and it's worth it I'm still amazed with it's resilience to give up. What I learned here is that once you decide to do it, an...
I used to get the urge to rescue venerable old timepieces too but I have to take my proverbial hat off to you for that restoration. Thanks for sharing Andrew
Hello René One item you missed but I can see in your photos that the watch looks to never have been polished ! All the edges looks sharp ! You can really see it on the bezel bevel and the brushing on the bezel ! That case style is super strong , the case ...
You're right! The case has some bumps, but keeps in great shape anyway! It looks relly sturdy. Great steel also. I love the case and lug shape, they make a "modern-classic" design of the watch I think. Also I like the size of this watch, big for it's time...
Well, to be honest I only did maybe half of the job, most had to do with disassembling and cleaning the movement piece by piece and also the case. The rest was done with little help of my watchmaker and a grumpy re-dialer. I guess it was teamwork what my ...
One which definitely was fueled by your passion and dedication. Great to see that the outcome is fantastic and a pleasure to wear. Enjoy, my friend, and best of luck in the never ending scavenger hunt! Fuerte abrazo, Alejandro
i was a bit out of the loop in November and this has just been bought to my attention. its a great job, but i'd love to see inside it. you need to get a caseback remover so you can photograph the movement for us all to see. best Graham
