Oh I have been waiting for this post....Alas!!
I have my own Qs on this series. But first the rhetoric -
1. Original will always be considered the Classic as it was a game changer, avant garde piece which took the mkt in a certain direction. Then it usually stays in the mkt for a long duration till saturation before a successor is introduced. It develops roots, a lot of buyers, a support TL. The bond blue wave bond.
2. Now the mkt progresses, new iterations here and there are produced to keep up with the competition and new innovations - some gud some bad - not necessarily accepted by all. Not a lot of buyers. Not considered Classic. The ceramic, AR coat, date wheel, co-axial etc.
3. Now the mkt is fully saturated and needs a new trail blazer, a new Classic. It cud be new technology (new high resistance level) or a revisit to the vintage piece, an homage (older support line). 300 Spectre

As the movement is a caliber 2500D, which is basically the same as the good old 1120 (or 1108) of the original, just with different escapement. All based on the ETA 2892A2 and with the same dimensions. So this was really a aesthetic decision, not technica...
