People blame the co-axial movement thickness for the increased case thickness.

As the movement is a caliber 2500D, which is basically the same as the good old 1120 (or 1108) of the original, just with different escapement. All based on the ETA 2892A2 and with the same dimensions. So this was really a aesthetic decision, not technica... 

For some stupid reason I let go of my original seamaster. This brings back all the good memories. It was/is truly a comfortable and capable watch and above all, it looks great. Just look at that wavy dial.

I have my own Qs on this series. But first the rhetoric - 1. Original will always be considered the Classic as it was a game changer, avant garde piece which took the mkt in a certain direction. Then it usually stays in the mkt for a long duration till sa...
