Great points made. I was somewhat against the 33XX movement too...
...around the time when it was first launched and problematic pieces cropped up. I was in that mode for a few years then l noticed significant drop in the number of cases of Cal. 33XX failing around me. Over time my comfort level rose to the point where I stopped expressing my concerns about this movement to potential buyers I know. I even bought one watch with this base movement two years ago. But that one is for keeping and not wearing so then again I have no owner experience to share.
As for sophistication of the movement, comparison against other brands' offering or provenance, I know I am not qualified to discuss so this is just about all I can say.
