Hi Skinnyguy,
please do not take me wrong, I do not want to spoil your pleasure or want to spoil your weekend!
The watch looks very good now, but I do not see it from your point of view but from a Purist´s view:
1)I do not understand why you had the dial restored - the original dial only had very faint "age points" and I suppose they had been visible under magnification only. Now you have got a wrongly restored dial with wrong replacement hands which reduces the value and collectibility of the watch for at least 30%
2) a service with cleaning and oiling could have been done by any Swiss watch trained local watchmaker for a fraction.
3) Removing scratches on the case can also be done locally, it does not need the help of the Swiss guys.
4) And this is a very important point for me: I am sure you have paid an arm and a leg for the restoration job plus shipping and insurance (twice) and maybe also custom duties...
I suppose the total sum exceeds the value of the watch and this has to be considered when sending a watch for restoration to Bienne.
I personally always try to have the watches treated locally by guys whom I know or who are recommended by other Purists.
The only exception I make is when:
It is a very expensive or complicated watch and it needs parts which can not be obtained from old stock of local watchmakers. Omega does no more sell watch parts to watchmakers who are not in contract or affiliated with Omega Bienne.
Only in this case I am forced to send it to Omega and spend a lot of money.
I hope you are not upset or disappointed that I can not share the enthusiasm of the other posters in this thread.
I just want to be honest and tell what I think - I do not want to spoil your joy at all.
HAGWE
Erich
