Omega

One of my favourites at the OMEGA booth at BaselWorld was the renewed edition of the Speedmaster Racing , now as a fully fledged Master Chronometer certified watch. It's all in the lovely details with the new offering, and there is aplenty to marvel about...  

The second version I'd like to show comes in almost exactly the negative of the white watch: black (Ref. 329.32.44.51.01.001). OMEGA also reversed the colour patttern of the hands, with those for the time function in orange, differentiated from the white ...  

We are eventually entering really dangerous territory, as the versions slowly but steadily gain lustre. First of the horological sirens is this silver version in steel (Ref. 329.30.44.51.06.001): Orange on silver, this alone is something special. Note how...  

Bicolour watches are certainly on a rise since about the last year, and I have to confess I am looking at them more often than I dared to admit only some months ago... Now if you still think they are a bit too flashy or pretentious, trust me, OMEGA has yo...  

And now... La Grande Finale : The OMEGA Speedmaster Racing in a red Sedna™-Gold with a lustrous blue dial ( Ref. 329.53.44.51.03.001): For OMEGA, this is almost an exuberant proposal... all details are there like with all the versions of this family, but ...

Is it me or does 'OMEGA' seem like the branding folks are trying too hard? Same with Sedna TM gold and Ceragold TM and Liquidmetal (r) etc. Not that Rolex and Hublot and the likes don't do similar things, although at least they don't call themselves ROLEX... 

I wasn't even aware of the capitalisation of the name till I read your post (which was very good!). That's what made me look at Omega's website - er, OMEGA's website, sorry - and then I had to start looking round the web and it just struck me as a bit cur... 

From your very nice photos, the Black and the Blue OMEGA are my favourites. Looking forward to see these in real. Best Blomman

Although I am more into Omega vintage watches, some Omega modern watches are well made. This one plays in the Daytona crowd alongwith other chronographs. My biggest regrets are that there are no self centering hammers in the chronograph mechanism which av...

That tells me none of them would be a long term keeper in my small collection. BUT... I do find these dials quite tempting. I seem to have a fitment problem with Omegas though, they all seem to ride very high, as if they are even thicker than they are. Th... 

In this case, I think the bi-color appeals most from your photos, if it were to fit OK ;-)

I really hates omega now... purchased a DSOTM pitch black not too long ago, the more black version of a black watch (sarcasm, I mean it) ....and now they're pumping out the 'master' 9900 movements like sausages. The 9900 is essentially a mirror duplicate ... 

as it was their clear and stated strategy to move their entire movement line to the METAS certification, and with this the antimagnetic qualities. I sincerely doubt OMEGA would entertain the upgrade you requested, for the simple reason that the logistics ... 

Maybe the upgrade can be performed during routine repairs and services . We've all seen similar things been done during the *ahem* 2500 coax *cough* incident. Omega would swap out the older design for the new updated parts whenever required. Several years...
