Earlier this month I finally acquired an original Omega Speedmaster racing strap . . .
. . . and buckle from a supplier in the UK.
This strap was originally supplied with the first rattrapante Speedies issued around the turn of the century. I've long been taken by their appearance when fitted to a standard Speedy . . .
. . . but never bothered to source one. They were abundantly available up to about five years ago, then slowly vanished from the market. When I managed to track down two suppliers in the UK, you could smell the plastic burning in my wallet from two doors down!
And yes, my project for next year is finally acquiring a Speedy Pro. This may be the first time ever a strap was acquired before the watch.

. . . while you can. Ten years ago, they were all over the internet. Five or six years ago, Otto Frei still had them listed. Then they disappeared altogether. It took some dedicated sleuthing to find them in the UK. ...
New Strap is as good as new watch…
I just wish most brands can have easy change system or at least have the adjustment pin so no tools needed, to prevent scratches to lugs or case. HNY !!! ...
