I've noticed that a few of the earlier Omegas I've owned had drilled lugs - specifically some 30mm hand winds and various bumper automatics, but all the later models I've owned with 50X and 55X/56X automatics have always had solid lug cases. Is there a ti... 

it happened but I do wish it hadn't. It is sooooo much easier to change a strap or bracelet with drilled lugs and I really don't think they look ugly. I just cannot see the advantage of not drilling them. Cheers

Hi, I even had a SS case where 1 pair of lugs were drilled and the second was not - isnt this strange? I think there is no rule or point of time - I think it was changed over a longer period of time... regards erich

you need special spring bars or the ends stick out of the holes. Rolex use special ones to avoid that. i dont know when they stopped, i know that a lot of gold cased 30T2rg's have drilled lugs which takes it up to the late 40's. some of the english made g... 

...that require the strap to be modified. You can slide the clip back with your fingernail and the pin compresses. I have one watch like that (not Omega). Very few of my watches and none of my Omegas have the drilled holes, so my go-to tool is a quality B... 

The last constellations that have drilled lugs are the 2887's and the best tools for the job are these toothpicks...  

Thanks Hoi, I thought you might be able to shed some light on this question. Does your 2887 have a cal 505 ? What is the approximate movement serial number ? So this would mean that at least a few of the full rotor 50X cases still had drilled lugs. I have... 

Hi Grumio. It's a 505 serial 16mil 33....and I think it's the last model that a vintage Omega had drilled lugs (correct me if I am wrong) Earlier than that, we see mixed models with drilled or solid and even in one model, there were drilled and solid mixe...

what is the calibre, approx. serial and the case ref of this model ? Oh, and beautiful watch. I can never see enough of this one. A perfect example of everything good in a vintage constellation. grumio
