Size matters....

....depending on how we use it.

I suppose we basically pay (120 CHF - 110 EUR -  120 USD) for the valid Omega archive information
This is today also provided in .pdf file format to a possible Omega customer account.
However we have lost something in document details.

The new document is called "Extract from the Archives". The old one; "Extract of the Archives".

NEW Extract from the Archives

Simple small folded printout (size 150 x 130 mm folded, 150 x 260 mm open) reminiscent of a dinner table placement card.
The printing ink leaves smudge lines on lower part of paper when folded.
Paper has a structured surface but is basiaclly standard card paper.
Mailed Priority Post (1,50 CHF) in a similar sized envelope.

The extract has an eight digit serial number starting with letters #OME
Seven lines of text reminding the reader that info is only based on what customer has informed Omega Heritage Dept.
Then the normal and important archive information.
The document is not handsigned but same printout as everything else. (Head of Brand Heritage signature)

Perhaps there has been a demand of a document size that fits within the typical Omega watch boxes?
Personally I think the lack of attention to details and quality of the document is in contradiction to the business of precision watchmaking.

OLD Extract of the Archives

High quality thick paper stock, two color embossed logo printing, quality printout.
Size 210 x 297 mm
Delivered in a quality Omega Musée paper folder, closed with Omega seal
Hand signed (Omega President)

Omega has revamped its Extracts from the Archives. When I got it in the mail, I first thought ....

.... it to be an invite from the local Omega boutique to some event, but it’s actually the new format of the extracts. It has lost some of its style. It’s a bit flimsy, but it’s ok. Cheers, HSTE ...

Yeah I like the old one better

Beautiful watch BTW. A ‘beads of rice’ bracelet would be perfect paired with it.

May I please ask?

How much do they charge for this? Thanks.

Not bad at all!

I know some brands like IWC charge a lot more.

Yeah, that’s true but they do a Certificate of authenticity....

.... which means you have to send the watch and a watchmaker checks all parts and their authenticity. Different job, different price. Cheers, HSTE

I see, thank you. [nt]

Beautiful Seamaster Chrono

Very under-rated compared to Speedmasters. I'm not surprised the extracts have gone a little "budget" in presentation. It's not cheap to fly George Clooney all over the world for those Apollo 11 50th Anniversary celebrations. He probably has a nice per di...

Does the movement have 'Adjusted Two 2 Positions' engraved . . .

. . . on one of the bridges? Not your usual, run-of-the-mill SM . . . hard to find, especially dressed in black. More than slightly jealous, Art

Mine has the „OXG“ but it is „unadjusted“ which - as of 1965 - is a legit combo .....

....whereas up to 1965 „OXG“ seems to have been mandatorily combined with „adjusted to two positions“. Cheers, HSTE
