Each of these 2 pairs haas something to see with Panerai Pre Vendome...
Pre A 4 and 9 have the dial, the Hyphen Dial, which comes directly from Pre Vendome Era.
Pam 36 and 40 comes from a project, the Slytech Project, and were programmed to be produced by Panerai in 1996.
Panerai, at this moment, wanted to launch the first titanium Luminor Marina watch...
They were bought by Cartier Vendome in March 1997, and the project, the watches, and the tools were trasferred to Panerai Vendome at the same moment.
BUT, these 2 pams, 36 and 40, have depht pre v roots!
Krieng gave a nice solution, as he would take a Pre A 9 and a 36...
I'd go on a different direction.
I'd take the 36 and the 40.
Why?
Simple:
The 36 and the 40 are much more original than the Pre A 4 and 9, IMO.
The pre A 4 is the daughter of the 5218-203/A pre v, and the Pre A 9 is the daughter of the Marina Militare 5218- 202/A...
The Daughters are,IMO, less appealing than the Mothers, if you know what I mean...And less original, too, as they are not the first to get a PVD case.
At the contrary, the 40 and the 36 are original.
They are the first to get a Titanium case, the only one ot get a titanium case and a tritium dial, and if you add the mystery of the 40 ( not referenced in the Panerai catalogues), this is, IMO, the pair to get...
How can you say NO to this pair???
Hope this help...
