The Pre Vendome (Pre-V)....
era consists in the 4 years (1993-1997) during which a 100% Italian Panerai, manufactured commercial watches for sale to the public. Before 1993 all the Panerais were manufactured ONLY for the Italian Navy (under strict "top secret" conditions) and not available to the public. Because of serious budgetary problems and the lack of the money needed to "give it a go", the watch division of Panerai was sold to the Vendome Group in 1997. During these 4 years they produced 4 or 5 models that became...extremely coveted by the collectors. Some models more than other, to be sure, but almost all of them enjoy pretty much "legendary" status for the Panerai's die hard fans

In 2005 i bought a Logo but sold it a few years later.
I liked it but never wore it so it had to go. I tried one with a Cali dial a few weeks ago. I think I prefer the simple ones those with a vintage vibe. But I think I appreciate them more in pictures than on my wrist.

In pictures they a so - so, but on the wrist it’s a whole new view.... that can be a good surprise sometimes 😊

I remember this time in the late ninethies and when they buy Panerei, this was absolutly crazy. Panerei sold 80 watches p.a. !!! Nobody wanted a Panerei, they where always ugly. Than, with Richemont and a never before seen marketing campaign, all people l...
Included in that marketing campaign was the demand by Richemont that if a dealer wanted to sell Cartier they had to take on Panerai.
And they had to "sell" Panerais to continue to carry Cartier.

I am not an expert but did the PVD change color; or is it uniformly worn down? I thought the original PVD color is original pencil grey while the 26 (or at least the 26k) May have darker PVD closer to black?
