Hello friends!! Just to share some thoughts which arised today after visiting a local AD to say hi to my friends there and wish them a Happy New Year.
One of my friends at that shop produced some watches recently arriived and among them was a mint example of the Pam 341 Egiziano with its big box and documents.
This one was not a new arrival but the last they have of a total of six they had received some years ago. This surprised me of course as I didn´t suspect Panerai had so many dyed in the wool fans here in my Country.
This is the first time I had the chance to try the Big Egiziano on my wrist.
Of course it confirmed what I had always thought: it looks ridiculously BIG on my wrist! This is not a watch to wear even if I had Schwarzenegger wrists! But the watch is superbly made and so attractive in spite of its size.
While driving back to my office, I kept thinking in this monster watch and I remembered our friend Sergio comment some time ago, saying something like "the Egiziano is an state of mind"... (If Sergio reads this post he will refresh the exact words, I hope)
I´m sure I wouldn´t dare to wear this watch. I still feel it looks ridiculous on my wrist or on any wrist.. but...
But may be this is a watch to own if you are truly interested in Panerai watches and its history. I feel it is an interesting piece of collection, historicaly important, and attractive both as a very low quantity edition, and the use ofTitanum for its case.
By the other hand I love to wear my watches, and purchasing an expensive watch I know I won´t wear looks weird to me.
Anyway I arrived to my office and to work and the watch keeps haunting me.
And I know it will keep haunting my mind tonight!
Ok my friends: I´ll appreciate your comments regarding how you view the Egiziano as a piece of collecting.
Thank you in advance!
Cheers! Abel.
