whilst I sort of agree that everything should be replicated as original as it
can be, sizes included, I totally disagree with you about sizes and what you
call ‘wanabee’
Back in 1993 if PANERAI replicated their watches in 47mm and 60mm, chances are no one but a tiny mere few would have ever considered wearing those instruments, whereas revisiting the historical pieces and resizing them to then an exaggerated 44MM allowed the interest of a much wider audience, even leading Vendome to be that much interested and the rest of the industry to eventually follow the ‘size trend’. Even now some 17 years later, the 47,48,60mm watches are not for everyone, because in the hand your sleeves cannot even cover you wears…
So call S. Stallone a ‘wannabe’ if you want, without him in the middle what would you today wear?… personally I say a big THANK YOU to the Pre-Vendome ERA
