that Panerai it's..flexing its muscles..technologically. Much as the automotive manufacturers create..concept cars...and shows them off at exhibitions. I also think that Panerai's managements has a "bar to be raised" policy all charted out. Following your reasoning: military timekeepers, keep them as simple as you can roots, also the tourbillon it's an affectation they could have easily done without
Basically all of the medium-savvy Paneristi...know...where the brand comes from and where the roots are buried but, do we know where the brand WILL HAVE TO BE, 40-50 years from now?? Sometimes we forget that, the commercial life of Panerai is a short 20 years worth....
All of this IMO of course.
ps I'll be in Florence next Monday at the "Gala" presentation of the "lump". I'll try and strap it on my wrist and find out...first hand...whether I like it or not
