Do you guys think Panerai will make more Tantalum watches such as the PAM172?
The PAM172, a special edition from 2003, was Panerai's first tantalum watch. Asi posted a fabulous picture of the PAM172 a while back ago here (see below pic). You can see the unique grey color of the tantalum case. And the blue hands contrasts beautifully with the tantalum case!

And then in 2004, Panerai released the PAM192, a chronograph version which housed a Lemania movement.

I love the unique hue of the tantalum and would like to see more tantalum Panerai's in the future.
How do you guys feel? Yes to more tantalum watches? Or you don't have any preference?

They should! The 172 and 192 were very cool watches.
I had the 192, and loved it a lot. The feeling of tantalum was something! And the look just sublime, with this grey blue nuances. Much more interesting ( and sadly, expensive ) than the Ceramic or composite cases. Best, Nicolas
The tantalium pieces (particularly the 172)....
have become the cult, within the..cult (Panerai). The word tantalium is whispered surreptitiously in back alleys and scarsely light places, in..awe hahahaha It is undeniable, that the grey/blue hues of the metal land a very handsome appearance to the 172....
What if Panerai made a tantalum Radiomir 1940?
That would be a very interesting combo - a tantalum Radiomir 1940 with a Rolex crown :) Cheers, Anthony

I had an...exchange...with a Panerai insider..
and it turns out, working with tantalium it's not a picknick (some would say it's a bitch) and the cost of the piece, could well turn out quite excessive. If they would ever consider it, it would have to be an extremely limited edition with costs that wou...
Supposedly tantalum is very hard and difficult to machine
so production costs are higher when making a tantalum case. I don't have any experience with this but that's what I've heard. Cheers, Anthony

I've heard the same from several brands.
I would LOVE to get a tantalum Watch... The ROO Orchard Road was and still is a big contender. I find the style of the Watch working very well with this material. It would also be the " case " for a " 1940 ".... Dépends on the dial! Best, Nicolas

want a brushed Tantalum w/ brushed blue dial w/ simple 3,6,9,12 Luminova dial (No Aged Fake Tritium pls) base in 47mm case.
