I agree with all your points. Particularly about Panerai going up market.
While it has definitely been a good year, my initial view is that it is not the spectacular year I was anticipating. I thought Panerai would go all out to celebrate its 150 year anniversary. In particular, I thought there would be more SE's with a couple of SE with a lower price. I also thought there would be a a luminor base ceramic for the masses.
Having said that I have been particularly impressed by the Radiomir skeleton, the equation of time and the 339. The first two I just think are brilliant. I don't think I would ever want to own either of them, even if I could afford them. I just like the idea of them. Purists will right say that neither of these watches are true Panerai.
The stock photos of the 339 looks great. However, the real life photo I saw didn't quite look as good as the press release. It still looked very good just not achingly beautiful. Just a bit to much brown. However, I should hold off until I see more pics. I hope to see this composite case used for luminor or 1950 case.
I'm just glad a bought a few Panerai's when I did as I'm not sure I could afford them now!
