All the Panerai GMT's are very easy to setup

so you shouldn't have any problems with setting the GMT hand.  It's as easy as the Rolex GMT models.

Just the main thing which will give you a hair pulling is all the various GMT models.  Furthermore, the new P.900X and P.200X models have the GMT function along with the "GMT" designated models such as the PAM88, 159, etc.

So I'd first narrow down the choices by picking a Luminor or a Radiomir.

If a Luminor, then narrow it down more by picking a Luminor or a Luminor 1950.

And then from there, it should be a little easier to narrow down the remaining choices.

Cheers,
Anthony

GMT's

I'm trying to decide between the various Luminor GMT's and I'm not sure they all work the way a Rolex GMT does. With the Rolex GMT you set the 24 hour hand for "home" time, and then set the other hour had for "local" time. From past experience this seems ...

It certainly seems like you've got the "setting" thing down. Now all you have to do is choose from an extremely wide variety of PAMs that have the GMT function. I happen to be a GMT "freak" and own the 29A, 88K, 89E - all GMT's but different in their pres...

I believe the short answer is, "no". None of the Panerai work the way a Rolex GMT does. My understanding is that the older style of Panerai are useful for keeping track of another single time zone or keeping track of GMT or useful as a 24 hour hand in you...

Old Panerai GMTs (based on 7750) are mostly the opposite. The 24hrs hand has to be the LOCAL TIME hand...and not HOME TIME. This is the hand you have to set in "hour" steps. This mainly means that you have to set the full watch each time you travel to oth...
