The Admiral's watch....

not many people are aware of this model or have seen it. This was a model requested..specifically..by an Admiral of the Royal Italian Navy (or so I was told by an absolute authority in matters of Panerai history) I think it's just "scrumptious" ...

Ha ha ha!!

I didn't know this one.

Very interesting informatio dear Sergio. It´s a beautiful dial. I´ve read somewhere that the Navy wished a dial less conspicuous than the usual 3-6-9-12 which was too bright and could be detected by the enemy...

... but I´m not sure if this is true. The Admiral request is something new for me. Thank you for sharing! Panerai offers this dial in his Pam 425 though I feel they ruined it with the small Maiale in relief over 6. Though that detail didn´t prevented me t...

Now we're talking!!

Lol! Thank you dear Tony!

The dial of the 425 is black....

the 373 is the only one with the brown one (and it's platinum) It's in my avatar Ciao my friend ...

Thank you so much for your clarification dear Sergio!!

This is a most beautiful Panerai. The brown dial and platinum csse make for a very special watch and looks. I was offered one a few years ago but my budget didn’t allow the purchase in that occasion. I’m still regretting that. Keep loving and enjoying you...

I almost forgot....

there's another 2533 dialled model, PAM449 also a limited edition WITHOUT the "offending" S.L.C. on the dial The picture is one of "hours". Credit to the photographer. ...

The 449 is a replica of a Frankenstein watch

This type of dials were made for the 6152/1 in the late 1950s. This is what the dial would look like in its natural habitat. Cheers Jose ...

Thank you so much for your clarification Jose!

I wish Panerai would offer this dial in their Luminor line ! Hopefully without the SLC on it of course!! Cheers! Abel

Ahh!! Didn’t remember this one. Still I can’t understand…

… why Panerai decided to feature the SLC on the dial of 425!

Every now and again...

 By: sergio : February 25th, 2023-01:49
they seem to resuscitate the SLC on some dials a-la 292.

That´s true!

Wow!

It's funny how stories change...

This is a picture I posted some time ago. All I wrote is that the watch apparently belonged to an Italian admiral. There is nothing known that it was "specifically requested" by an adrmiral. Cheers Jose

I showed the picture to Loris Pasetto....

he mentioned the...request but hey, I'm aware that every story has a "multiverse" (specially when it comes to Panerai vintage or historical models) Thanks for your input

That watch is sick!

Panerai is...a day late and a dollar short...on this subject but hey, hope springs eternal, right?
