I consider myself blessed to own this watch. I guess my trip to London or rather to the MB boutique was timed just right!

It is almost a stealth watch as from the front, one could mistake the watch for an automaitc 40mm wacth from the Heritage range but turn the watch over and phwoar!!

Congratulations. That is a beauty, indeed. And a gorgeous movement.

Nowadays, I cannot afford any more 'mistakes' when acquiring a watch and they have to convince me that they will be keepers! Yes as crazy as it sounds, the watch must talk to me (preferably in a language I understand!! )

I have too many automatic Pateks in my small collection so I felt I needed to dilute it with some quality manual movements!

And I have fallen several times for the same logic: superb movements, limited production run and a well-known brand. More to that I appreciate that the Minerva inspired dials look so different. Regarding your point with the smoothness of the hand winding ... 

especially on your feedback on the winding mechanism. I too once owned a 13.21 monopusher which had a smoother winding mechanism and I really should not nitpick on the winding mechanism on a near perfect watch. I can see you know your Minervas well!!

A three handed watch with a well made movement always seems to attract me over something more complicated.

I am not sure if that was called the Caliber 48. The layout as you correctly state is the same but the finishing is a lot better. It was reinterpreted in 2003 with more classical shapes and high end finishings.

To be honest, I would've preferred if they updated the finishing but maintained the Pythagore's original bridges - they were uniquely angular, almost brutalist. A smaller case size to fit the movement would also be great, although I guess almost all the m... 

37mm to 38mm would have been ideal since the movement is not too large. Fortunately, the slim curved lugs help!

Its a spectacular watch , great choice and i hope to see more pics of it soon . You will know after a while why i love these Salmon dials so much . There gorgeous, timeless and give a nice warm glow when look at them imho

Have you not considered getting one of these for your Salmon collection?! I know you focus on independents but this watch is quite special and in a way combines the best of both worlds.

I have some other projects that i like to add this year and they will take away a large amount of my budget so need to be selective this year

The movement is wonderful, traditional and elaborate. The overall design is great and very no nonsense. I hope to see much more pictures. I’m not normally interested in MB as a watch maker but I am aware of the glorious past of Minerva. This seems like a ...

At this moment i am studying Minerva or Montblanc. I compare models, read articles, and enjoy that history. The fact it is so deep into watchmaking, passion, and the outstanding design, make me want a peace of the part. I try to find the Minerva of choice... 

I have little doubt you know much more about the brand than I do and I wish you all the best in your quest to find the right watch for yourself!

I have a problem. with the name Montblanc. Why? It is easy to chose a mountain as a name. It is not original, a sort of lazy. What i like is that a name tells me prestige, heritage, bon yard, jet set and so on. And they have a logo that is some sharp sket... 

that you have not researched properly. Montblanc as a trademark was established in 1910 - that is a lot of heritage. Moreover, they produce fountain pens (and very seldom ballpoints). And about 10 pens per year are sold at >1.5 million Euros and are highl... 

I go rethink it. It is good to give it a rest. Later on, i wil see what to do. The white mountain wil stay, and not put it in a box with Rolex in my opinion.

These are beautiful movements, I own both the Salmond and blue dial Chrono’s with the Minerva movements and use/love them both. Mine are 44mm but what I like abut the movement different than yours is it fills the entire back of the case, strictly objectiv...  

And I totally agree with you that I would have preferred it of the movement fills up the case better on my watch ie by making the case 2 or even 3mm smaller. A movement when displayed should try, in my opinion, to fill the case back as much as possible!

I know you had been considering this one for a while. Bought the Salmon Dial Heritage as an impulse buy last year being so taken with the dial. Have since been considering the Salmon Heritage Pulsograph or the 38 now that I’ve learnt more about MB. Doubt ... 

I have actually seen quite a number of salmon pulsographs still for sale despite being limited to only 100 pieces. I too was considering one but found the watch a little on the thick side compared to its rivals from Patek and Lange. But the Heritage 38 be... 

I think the price point was of the Pulsograph was a little too high for general watch collectors, especially when previous editions of the same movement were cased in PM rather than SS for similar prices. The entry level Heritage Auto has a lot of the sam...  

I think MB felt that they had priced the pulsograph competitively against rivals from Lange, Vacheron and Patek but what it fails to appreciate is many potential clients will still favour the three aforementioned brands due to their history. You and I app... 

I recently had the chance to visit Montblanc at LeLocle and Villeret. The manufacturer at Villeret (Minerva) was stunning. Also joined the small seconds club ... ...
