Heritage GMT

Sep 16, 2019,19:10 PM

ETA based. 40mm. Effortlessly retro. Just a few bucks over 3k USD with the mesh bracelet. That shade of blue on the GMT hand. Not a ltd anything.

What is not to like?

Some folks are saying it needs a date. I prefer it to have none. Although I don't see why they can't come out with a date version.

Some folks are saying there we go again with that vintage look. I really don't care. It's beautiful.

I've been secretly wanting to have something like those old Pateks/Rolex on mesh that I see on the likes of Goldberger but it is not easy to find something that's more accessible that's not trying too hard. Never easy to find one with just enough cred that won't break the bank.

I'm thinking this might be it. But I let it gestate for now.

People were weirdly negative in the hodinkee comments, but it's nice at its price

For 3k it is very well done. I understand the GMT isn't a jumping hour, but isn't that just an extra minute or two in setting the times up while on the airplane? Or, am I missing something?

Timex?

Seems like Blancpain will soon be competing against Timex. They should have left Minerva be Minerva.

I think there's a lot of folks here who've moved on regarding the Montblanc vs Minerva branding..

I'm at that point where I hear the word Montblanc and the first word I associate it with is Minerva.. and watchmaking. To think they're really known for pens, yes? As for the BP/Timex comment, I'm not sure I know how to react to that but thanks for commen...

Ah but that's a totally different look though..

Slowly digesting the other things that my go the opposite way with this watch. Minor niggles like the "Minerva" caseback design and perhaps the "Heritage Automatic" come to mind. But the major one might be the movement.. for most, an ETA-based (ETA clone?...

Not a bad looker

But perhaps in that price category will come up against some stiff competition, especially with ETA under the hood.... namely Tudor BB58...

Yes agree fully...

Not this iteration with the baby blue but that watch hits the spot for dress watches

I hear you. I hope they come out with a silver dial or black dial variant..

But I don't mind the blue on this one. Could be a great summer watch (but alas not for the pool).

I for one applaud...

The decision to do dressier, rather than sportier pieces. There's enough of the latter out there anyway and I see little market need for more - even if their current popularity is high. And this is not at the price point, where everything in-house is cons...

1 on the price point/inhouse comment..

Context is everything with the inhouse/movement argument. I plan to drop by a MB boutique next week. Hopefully, they already have this on stock. I want to see how it sits and feels on the wrist.
