SIHH 2008: the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin range

By: Dje : April 16th, 2008-13:57
Ultra thin watches have lost most of their prestige in the last decades as the quartz era has made us forget the mastery they require! On the contrary ultra thin watches remain for the calibre amateurs and the real horology fans a real proof of great tale...

GORGEOUS perfection

I LOVE these!!! The movement seems too small for the case but I can live with it, since it it SUCH a fantastic movement. Someone (Jack Forster? Sorry if incorrect) suggested that this year's Basel seems to be doing its best work 'looking backward' to simp...

It's a speculation

...but I think the increase in thickness of the 38mm is just a way of strenghtening the watch in case of a bracelet.

Thank you

Excellent choice of pictures. Thank you. After reading your report I am seriously considering getting the 38mm.

Finally! I was looking for this last year...

along with a "Harmonized" Reserve de Marche (that'll probably come next year). I'd love to get the auto in steel with black dial for dress - since I probably can't afford the 1833 version. -Dean

Great work, Jerome!

I was very interested by the old but still avalaible 34mm MUT. Now that I saw it in the flesh, I prefer the 38mm, much easier to wear than the too small for e 34mm... It's true, we had a lot of questions or fear in mind whe discovering these new MUT... Wi...

How thin is too thin?

Maybe JLC wanted to avoid legal problems.... Today's headline: FRANCE TURNS TO FINES, JAIL TO COMBAT ULTRATHIN IDEALS Passed by the lower house of parliament Tuesday, it makes the promotion of 'excessive thinness' a crime punishable by fines of up to $78,...

the mut is dead, long live the mut!

I've always had a soft spot for the "old lady" 34mm mut, and must admit I was apprehensive when I first heard the news of the new one, particularly upon learning that it would use the old caliber. The result is however imho stunning, with my favourite bei...

Damn it!

JLC is going to make my life a living hell this year. How am I supposed to choose?

Simple and stunning - just what JLC do best.....

With the brown strap on the 38mm it could almost be worn casual which the 34mm couldn't. I think this could appeal to a lot of collectors....!! Very tempted myself now..!! I'm sure if it was in platimun Nicolas would have already ordered one...;o) Great r...

Wot, Andy? Plat 38mm?

By: amanico : April 17th, 2008-09:31
Well, just the time to rob a bank, and I'm yours...LOLOL Seriously, the 38mm " 1833 " would please me a lot... Best. Nicolas

Ultra thin numerals

Interesting that the font on the 38mm is different than the old 34mm. The straight-sided (look at the 9) give way to wider, curvier numerals more like the rest of the Master Control range.

Weird, but

Going to an AD in Milan, they showed me a catalogue with JLC novelties: the 38mm Ultra Thin featured the same numerals of the "old" 34mm... I don't know what to say...

We checked with JLC about the thickness of the MUT 34 and 38mm. So the 34mm is not 4,20mm, but 5,75mm, and the 38 is 6,31mm. So the difference is only 0, 56 mm thicker and 4mm bigger for the new one... That's why, when we saw it, we had the impression JLC...

Sorry for my English

By: parazzini : April 19th, 2008-13:47
Nicolas, I intended that the FONT of the arabic numerals, on the catalogue, seemed exactly the same of the old model... Not a matter of thickness! Marco P.

Well, we both have problems with our English, my friend...

Maybe your dealer didn't already receive the new catalogues, as they're not yet available... May be an explanation. The photos we posted, Jerome and me, were taken form the new watches, and the other pics compe from the official press files. So I can tell ...
