Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic True Second Limited Edition " Blue " is unveiled.

 By: amanico : December 4th, 2017-00:00
Gentlemen, Here is a limited edition version of the Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic True Second, which is on to be unveiled. The True Second was unveiled in September 2015, and I had the pleasure to cover this event. For those who want to know more about the G...

It is a lovely watch......

......and ticks many boxes. BUT......with date, its a no for me.

If they removed the date and changed the name to "Geomatic"

 By: reintitan : December 4th, 2017-00:10
then it would be "a whole different ball game" as they say here in the States.

Indeed. [nt]

I don’t like it. The whole feel of the watch has changed for the worse.

The crosshairs are too thick and make the dial look very fussy and I don’t like the date on this watch. Regards Kev.

I like the Blue dial but seeing this just made me want the original grainy silver dial!

I really like this reference. Kill the date window and it would be perfect but even the date window doesn’t bother me too much. Cheers

The most important point is the distribution channel

This is a significant message sent by JLC by making it available only thru its online boutique and I don’t know how the network will react. Fx

Totally agree. This is a test.

Not sure if we should embrace this development or boycott it. There are pros and cons either way. Meritocracy vs cronyism. Waiting lists vs resellers. This will likely become the new model of future sales. No one has lost out by being a victim of 'showroo...

I tried the "true second" but I'm old school ...

 By: nilomis : December 4th, 2017-02:28
And I prefer the running seconds ... running and not ticking. I know that the "true second" is a horological accomplishment but not for my taste. I still have one (the UT) but this small detail annoys me every time that I look. Back to the watch, the dial...

I have to say no...

 By: KMII : December 4th, 2017-02:49
But that’s because I already liked the regular one I would have preferred it without the date, too but it’s not a deal breaker. Find the blue quite nice, sadly may be somewhat more difficult to try on, given that it’s only sold online...

Nice blue dial

but the vertical cross hairs look too short and interrupted Cheers Robin

Good!

It seems pretty good! But it would have been better if there were no date in the titanium case.

I absolutely love it.

But then again, I am a sucker for blue dials. The date does not bother me in the least and the deep blue gives this one a special feeling, IMO.

I hoped/expected dial variations within the Geophysic line

Adding a blue sector dial (nailing two strong trends of the past few years) to a watch struggling with its identity and sales is a shrewd but obvious move by JLC, they will sell 100 movements/cases with a small redial investment. It is a very attractive w...

Very curious:

 By: remarque : December 4th, 2017-08:16
I agree with Kev - the cross hairs are too thick and make the whole dial too busy. The blue seems nice, but that doesn't make up for the package in toto. Only sold online? So much for those of us who like to see things in the flesh before buying. Most cur...

Thanks. I would be curious to hear their thoughts. The original geophysic was unlabeled. Following my suggestion, in a sense, would be more true to the brand history...

Which iteration do you favor, Nicolas? PS if you like a good book, read "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles. It is superb, and has some horology interspersed to boot!

Where can I ORDER the watch??

I prefer the original one, which I will get for sure eventually!

 By: eklektik : December 4th, 2017-11:28
Maybe a little touch of blue on the movement would have been nice? Clearly, the 'geophysic' is still a very sore point for some Best, É.

Hmmm, there are still pieces available as of this post time stamp when the eboutique closed for the night!* 1. I noticed that the site changed before the allotted time and had it up well in advance - I mean nearly an hour early. If you are going to announ...
