Obviously a wonder.....
Nov 04, 2009,02:41 AM
Amazing first pics of the Hybris Nico.As you mentioned no much to say about the Reverso ,but the Gyro is sublime.
I must confess though that the original Gyro has a more classic look, and if i had to choose I'd prefear it.
Its a graal watch, and well deserved. You know what ....I'm starting appreciating more and more the wonderful universe of JLC and getting lost in the sea of neverending fantastic creations they did and are doing.I understand your unconditionate love for the brand. Its getting dangerous for me.......in a good way.Yours,Mo.

Review-JLC:The Hybris Mechanica à Gyrotourbillon and à Triptyque
By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-00:50
Before speaking about the " plat de resistance " with the Grande Sonnerie, let's see the 2 other watches of this fabulous set, the Gyrotourbillon I, and the Triptyque. These are, now, well known watches, here, which received some aesthetical modifications...
Obviously a wonder.....

So which would it be?
By: AndrewD : November 4th, 2009-02:52
Thanks for this tour of two marvels from JLC, Nicolas. So which would you choose, this Hybris Mechanica à Gyrotourbillon or the Gyrotourbillon II Reverso? I would have a hard time choosing I think. I prefer the Gyro II over the ‘standard’ Gyro I, but this...
What choice, Andrew?
By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-05:19
I fear I have no choice, except in my dreams... But in my dreams, I really don't know what to say... The first Gyro is very attractive, in my opinion, but this version is awesome, and at the end, I would confess a light preference for this last one. As fo...
Now you are talking my friend :0)
By: Ares501 - Mr Green : November 4th, 2009-05:15
well wow what to say excellence at it's peek but I like the "original versions" more if we look piece at a time not as whole set not that I'll have anything against this strange variations :0))) In expecting "full" Hybris post yours truly Damian
It is just a " starter ", Damian
By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-23:15
You have nothing against some Caviar, before the main course? The first Gyro I is much better in real than in pics, my friend. I like to be embarassed at the moment of the choice, but in this case, I fear I have no other ( delicious ) choice than just...D...
It will be quite hard, Stefan
By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-23:18
Even to see these pieces in the flesh will be difficult, as you can guess, with only 30 pieces available... But if there is an event organized by JLC, and that you can go and see them, do not hesitate. This is an unforgettable experience. Best, Nicolas
All we need now is 2.5mil...

... Let's gather some purists, sell a few watches, and a bit of $$$, and get one of the 55 coffrets. 1st thing is that you can make macro on the finished watch and not a prototype. 2nd, we can share the watches. There is 3 watches, so that makes the time ...
Great idea but.....
By: moc : November 4th, 2009-12:44

By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-23:52
And it really takes a lot of time, my friend... Too many things to explain and to say about this masterpiece. But I think I will be able to post it soon... Best, Nicolas
Wow Nico.....
By: Andy : November 4th, 2009-08:08
the Gyro was already near perfection but this is just a dream.....to me you can't get any better, it is the ultimate watch which unfortunately I will never own in a million years but I feel honoured to have seen one in the flesh. This new version is gorge...
Well, Andy
By: amanico : November 5th, 2009-02:05
It is good to see that some watches are just Dream Watches, IMO. But if one day I win the lottery... As for the time to assemble a Gyro I, I will ask, I totally forgot to ask when I was at the Manufacture! Best, my friend. Nicolas
Thank you Nicolas...

The main course is coming soon! Good news, my friend. Do you want me to send you my details? Best, Nicolas
Just ... WOW!!!
By: Fred.N : November 4th, 2009-11:20
Lately, I was a little jaded by redundant novelties ... but these two pieces, especialy the Hybris Mechanica à Gyrotourbillon is the kind of transcendent watch that revives love for haute-horlogerie . Thank you for your report and these scans Nico!!!!
How can you be jaded so young, my friend?
By: amanico : November 4th, 2009-11:25
You should be ashame to say such things! Live, be enthusiast, and enjoy! Best, and thanks for your very nice words, Fred. Nicolas
:)))
By: Fred.N : November 4th, 2009-23:33
Thank you Nico, you are right, I have soooooooo many things to learn "Jaded" is a little strong to describe my feelings LoL! ... but .... long long time I haven't seen such beauties!!! See You!!

The Gyro I has always been a favorite of mine (much more so than the II) and the skeleton version is a wonderful improvement on a legendary watch. I also like this version: Craig...

By: amanico : November 5th, 2009-21:30
It will be difficult for me to speak about this version, as I never saw it in the flesh, and I doubt I will... To say all, I have quite a negative " à priori " on it. The trend goes for black watches, amen. Why not for " reasonnable " watches? BUT fo...
A beautiful beautiful piece!
By: patrick_y : November 4th, 2009-15:27
Thank you for the beautiful photographs. Beautiful watches. I agree with your sentiments about the Hybris Mechanica Gyrotourbillon, it is very different indeed.
Thanks, Patrick
By: amanico : November 5th, 2009-21:25
The Gyro I ,and the HM Gyro I have such a different personality. I'd say that the former Gyro I was an aesthetic surprise. Nobody expected such an original layout of the dial. 5 years after ( Wow, Time Flies! ), I think we get used to it, and to say all, ...
Great report!
By: Peter : November 4th, 2009-22:33
Thks for sharing
I'm glad we waited for the real-life, in-person PuristS
By: MTF : November 5th, 2009-00:09
report! I know some people are keen to be 1st with the scoop or break news too early unofficially, but it is good that you took your time for a deep thought before writing. Regards, MTF
Well, I can't agree more, MTF
By: amanico : November 6th, 2009-12:03
My point is OUR point, my friend. With such watches, it is always better to feel them, to get them, to think a bit about them before posting a topic. What is the interest of a Press Files? What is the need to communicate as soon as we get the information?...
Don't see a problem
By: Asimut : November 5th, 2009-01:10
As we already have one set? You can have the GT, dede can have the GS,,,,lol...
Tssssssssss, Asi
By: amanico : November 5th, 2009-01:28
That's a total lack of discretion, my friend. Everybody will now know that ..." The Good, the Bad and the Ugly " are on the way! ROFLMAO. Best, my friend. Nicolas
Now I understand why watch boxes are so big
By: AT : November 5th, 2009-16:05
Otherwise they will fit under Asi's jacket! Brilliant report Nicolas. JLC is on fire these last years. They were always good but the extra effort they're putting will make a difference in the long run. Best to you, AT
mon ami, a small question
By: BluNotte : November 5th, 2009-05:54
I seem to see from all your photos of the pieces from the set, that the Gyro and the triptyque seems to be fitted with Blued hairsprings, where the original werent. Can you confirm that JLC decided to put in Blued hairsprings for these? Merci and thanks f...
I must confess that while you're in front of such Beauties
By: amanico : November 5th, 2009-11:56
You are not obsessed with the Blue Hairspring... At least, I wasn't. So, I didn't ask, but I will. My guess is that on the Gyro I, the hairspring is blued, but I'm not sure it is the case with the definitive Triptyque. Will have to check... Best, Stephen,...
I fear ...Not, Patrick
By: amanico : November 6th, 2009-12:05
Although it will remain in my collection of ...Dreams! Thanks for the nice words, my friend. Best, Nicolas

I really enjoyed reading this post. Gorgeous pictures of SUPREME watches. Nowadays could say, that JLC is doing things better and better everyday. Four timepieces to dream about, with a superior finish, none to envy to no one. The Reverso à Triptyque give...
