HI... Is this dial a "T swiss made T" or a "swiss made" ;-)

You were (still and again) right ...

According to the information found, JLC started producing this model around 1997, and had to modify all its Tritium luminescent materials (on all its products) by replacing it with Superluminova and respecting an evolution of standard, during the year 2001 ...

And there were only 1164 of these black dial versions made...

Moreover this Memovox model is quite rare because it is the only black dial display Memovox and it had a limited run from around 1999-2002.

This watch is also unique because it's one of two modern black faced Memovox models and until recently it was the only Memovox with a clear case back to view the movement and alarm complication.

When this model was released there was also a silver faced version that had a closed case back, not as limited in production. JLC just released an automatic silver dial version with a sapphire case back sooner. It uses a similar gong design, however, it is much more difficult to view it in action.

A couple of interesting facts about this watch: not only does it differ from the buzzing alarm of the other calibres that had the hammer strike the inside of the of the Memovox case but it was also manufactured alongside the minute repeaters from JLC which have a similar gong design.

I share your opinion : this manual wind version is a model to get. The gong makes the alarm sound immensely different and more pleasing to listen to than the vintage calibers. It sounds like an old school bell. The alarm sets and functions perfectly.

I think I'll let myself be tempted by the one I saw ... Just have to find a tritium dial ;-)

Jaeger Lecoultre Master Memovox Cal 914: Close to perfection?

 By: amanico : February 15th, 2021-10:36
36 mm case: Good for me. Even if I wouldn't mind getting a 38 / 39 mm case. Black Dial: all good, Especially with depth and warmth. See through case back: Here, a clear YES! Because we have to see something uncommon, a manual winding modern JLC movement. ...

That’s one of my all-time favourites.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike. It’s beautiful. Regards Kev.

In total agreement.

Yes, you are right.

This particular model is a stunner and not easy to track down. Would make perfect sense for a re-issue

What I am secretly hoping.

Everything to love about this

Except diameter which is only a circumstance of my large wrist. Lucky for those with the right wrist size.

A huge plus one.

 By: amanico : February 15th, 2021-14:56

38mm is severely pushing it, 36mm is just too far.

 By: Brandon Skinner : February 15th, 2021-17:12
But its undeniably beautiful. One of the few I believe with a sapphire caseback as well.

Nico, may i know how comfortable this model is?

 By: Berkeleygis : February 15th, 2021-14:00
I am asking since it seems the caseback looks bulky. I had a problem wearing JLC MMC (granted the size is bigger) because the case back bulkiness, thus I had to sell it. Thank you.

Agreed!

I'm with you on all those points! A few shots to add fuel to the fire! Cheers JML Ps don't forget the sound - that's what the gong is for! ...

All true, my lucky friend.

 By: Alfihar : February 15th, 2021-22:01
As you know, I’m hunting the Tribute to Deep Sea Us, the Duometre chrono black dial and a 3rd one. For this last one I have not decided and this memovox is on the start line of the race... with others. Love the fact that it is a memovox because for me ala...

Two questions

 By: Alfihar : February 15th, 2021-22:50
1) it seems that this watch has only been produced in 999 copies even though it is not a limited series, ins’t it ? 2) it also seems that two dials have been produced. The one on your photos and another with « Jaeger LeCoultre » written on the alarm dial....

Here a photo of the instructions book that I found

 By: Alfihar : February 15th, 2021-23:26
Credits Cda I guess I’ve seen a picture but not sure.... I'm probably getting old ;-) ...

In silver. not in black, yes I saw that.

 By: amanico : February 15th, 2021-23:29
...

36mm is my single only hangup.

 By: systematic.entropy : February 16th, 2021-07:33
However, seeing the gong through the back is exceptionally unique!!!

Oh yes 😍😍😍

 By: Watcholic_id : February 17th, 2021-00:49
Absolute perfection for me! Love the silver dial too. Any reasons why JLC don't make this as a general release piece?

What a sublime watch !.. And what superb pics !.. A re-edition or re-creation of a black sibling would be great !

 By: hs111 : February 17th, 2021-06:43
Some 2 and a half years, I fell on this; - not the Tritium dial, but still very nice ! Thus, resistance was futile.. Simply a pleasure on the wrist ! Subtle coolness !.. Meanwhile my Best, hs. ...

Hahaha.... good one.

Agreed 100%.

I've sent you a sms... ;-)

With a bonus, the tritium dial, yes:
