This is my fathers old Jlc. He must have bought it some time in the 70s and wore it every day, so i‘m quite lucky wearing this watch now although the typical 70s design seems to be a little out of time today. It was serviced at Jlc this spring so it...

That is a beautiful Chronometer! I would say not to worry too much about damaging the glass, which I’m inclined to say it might be mineral glass. If you feel uneasy it might be worth reaching out to the manufacture and ask to buy a couple of spares ... 

Especially bc of its story. I think it’s absolutely timeless design and beauty. I don’t find it out of time looking at all. Is it a Genta design? I hope you wear it in good health and remember the best times with your dad when you do! 👏👏👏
