Help from Jaeger's specialists

Dear fellow Purists

I have an interesting case for your review.

Sometimes back I purchased the below watch at an Auction, a vintage Jaeger (rose gold) chronograph. The expert (well known in Geneva for his vintage expertise) confirmed it is from the 50's and equiped with a Valjoux 72 (which is confirmed by the photos below:

Now hanging around on the web I saw from a dealer I know very well (and is a reliable one) the below watch Stainless Steel Jaeger chrono ! Almost the same dial with the "FAB. SUISSE" mentioned @6 o'clock (although in better condition than mine !) the differences being in the chrono counters, same hands, same size (35mm), same brand, only the lugs are slightly different:

BUT the most surprising part to me was in the description, movement Universal Geneve 285 !

Several questions arose there:
1- The 2 watches are too similar not to be from the same period, yet
2- The movements are indeed different
3- the serial number of mine is 145XXX while the one supposed to be from the 30's is 166xxx
4- Would it be possible that Jeager did sell the same watch with different movements over such a long period of time ?
5- Another possibility is that 1 of the experts did miss out on the actual period / age of one the watches even though the movements are different, which could be supported by the serial number issue (mine is smaller than the other one).
6- I also notice that UG285 does not have Incabloc while Valjoux 72 has

I would be happy to read from you guys on this one !

NB: I don't know what I am allowed or not to do in terms of mentioning the sources, but the photos of my watch are mine (!), the photos of the other watch have been taken from a famous sales site. No intention to utilize the property of someone else, I just used them to illustrate my post and start hopefully an interesting conversation. If you want me to mention the name of the site and or the name of the dealer I would do so.

Thanks !

Agree that both are from the 1950's

The steel version is not from the 1930's. I have a LeCoultre from the 1950's that is serial number 204xxx, with the valjoux 72. Sometimes it seems they used Jaeger or Lecoultre, or Jaeger-Lecoultre indiscriminately. ...

Thanks !

Indeed that's what I thought, but the explanations regarding Jaeger before JLC made me doubt !

I recently purchased this watch but cant find any instructions for it online. It does look a lot like a Universal of roughly the same vintage which has a stop watch function. Do you know of a weblink which tells me how it works? Thanks!

Picture?
