For me...
I like the 18ktR due to the nice contrast of the rose hands and indices against the silver sunray dial. The steel IS very nice, but the hands blend a bit too much for me. The happy median would be a steel case with rose hands & indices on a honey-brown (what JLC used to call "glossy gold") strap...but this will probably end up in the boutiques.
