Nice choice, indeed! My favourite remains the Astronomique ( but the price is as high as the stars... ) or the Dunhill, which was released last year. The question is not which one, but when... Best, Nicolas

and thankfully ludicrously expensive so still extremely pleased with mine now.. I remember you saying you visited the Atmos workshop and now I know what you saw...lucky man Nico. Are you not tempted with one yet..?? I look at mine every day and it always ... 

I will " attack " the Atmos Thema when I end my JLC Vintage collection... Still have some to get. Then, I'd seriously consider the Atmos, and some goodies from the brand, like the alarm clock, the barometer, the globe of the world... Best, my friend. Nico... 

how is the movement of the clock acessed..?? I can see the little lever that has to be moved to engage the movement but I can't see the door....on my glass version the front comes off. Just curious.. Yours, Andy.

Was it the very traditional Atmos clock with the gold frame? Or was it the very modern Atmos clock with the three cones on that served as a base? Or neither?

..looks absolutely stunning, I would love to see that. in the pics it has an almost immaterial quality to it, that suits the athmos concept of magic really well. I am, however not so shure about Newsons design. I saw one about a month ago and it confirmed... 

Seeing them in the flesh! Agree that at first sight, the 1930 is more appealing, but the Atmos Newson needs some time to fully discover it. They are not to compare, IMO. Thanks for your very well written input! Best, Nicolas

I am a fan of Gustav Klimt's art work and thus I fancy the Marqueterie. Unfortunately, since the works of art are too expensive (one of his works sold at auction a couple years ago for a fortune) to acquire, the Atmos that bears his work with inlaid wood ... 

Some, the Newson, others the 1930, and some excentric guys like us quote the Klimt or the Astronomique. One thing is sure, the concept of the Atmos is truely fascinating. I will post something about it just after all the 2010 Releases... Stay tuned, my fr... 

Are there any other makers of complicated clocks that run on air? I think JLC has this niche pretty well sewn up. Thanks for an elucidating post, Nico -- as always the nice pictures and your insightful words make you a joy to read.

...the Atmos these days do not run on air? I remember my dad had one and it was a real pain then with it operating properly. Apparently, the severe humidity in SG wreaked havoc with it.

...and i am not alone, judging from the many enthusiastic posts! Unfortuntely i still cant see the pics and i had to check the JL website to get an idea. I am crazy for the 561 and very fond of the Dunhill version. Very cool indeed. Unfortunately they are... 

I'm truely sorry that you can't view these pics! But, as you did, you can see them again and again on the JLC Website. As for watches, I can love Moderns or Vintages, without any problem, except from my banker! Best, Nicolas

especially the pictures of the original Reutter. A bit of mixed feelings about the straight bridge on the re-edition but just love that JLC is sticking to the original fonts; particularly the zero in the 10. Such a fantastic throwback to the Art Deco era.... 

That's what I love the most with the Atmos clocks, and your analogy with a fire burning in the fireplace is well chosen! Well, the 566 is much more elaborated than the 561, as you have Astronomical complications, hence the huge difference in prices. Thank... 

I'm sure there is a place for the 561 and 566 but the design of the re-edition is still cool, even after seventy years. There is something to be said about the complications in the newer design but for classic sophisticated lines, I prefer the 1930. Clean... 

Seeing both of them side by side is indeed interesting, my friend. I think the 1930 Reedition is easier to get, because it looks sweater than the Atmos. But I love Complications, too... Best, and thanks for your nice and interesting input! Nicolas
