Duometre UTT Paris Boutique Edition

I thought I'd share a brief review of my Duometre UTT in White Gold.  This is a Paris Boutique Special Edition limited to 100 pieces.  I'll focus less on the aesthetics and the movement (which are superb) and more on the functionality.

Let's start with an orientation of the watch face in the image below.  Here the watch has been set to 10:10am Pacific time (GMT -8) for both the home time (right sub-dial)  travel time (left sub-dial).  The travel time has a jump hour complication and can be advanced or moved back in 1 hour increments by pushing the top and bottom pusher respectively on the left of the case.  The arrow at the bottom of the globe points to the travel time zone. In this case it is a blue 8 meaning GMT -8.  GMT +8 would have been shown in red. Half of the GMT ring is light and half shadowed, showing day (for the light section) and night for the dark section.  Since the Blue 8 is not shaded, it is daytime in the travel time zone.  The power reserve indicators at the bottom correspond the the travel time on the left and home time on the right.

Now let's look at how to adjust the watch when traveling (following image below).  Let's say I'm traveling to Paris (GMT +1).  I press the top pusher 9 times until the disk at the bottom shows GMT+1 (Red 1).  It is shaded, indicating the time in Paris is 7:10pm as indicated by the jump hour window.  The Home time remains at 10:10am on the right sub-dial.

Now let's travel to India, which is GMT +5.5 (image below).  I advance the pusher on the top until I see the Red 5 (GMT+5) on the bottom ring.  Next, I pull the crown out to the first setting position and turn it until the minute had has advanced by 30 minutes.  The watch is now set to GMT +5.5 in India for the travel time, indicating the time in India is 11:40pm.  The home time on the right sub-dial remains at 10:10am. I should point out that the minute hand moves in discrete 1 minute increments when you turn the crown in the first setting position.

Another interesting detail is that when you pull the crown out to the 2nd setting position, the watch hacks and the second hands jumps to the zero position to aid calibration against a time signal.  In this position, turning the crown advances both the travel and home time simultaneoulsy.

Now let's take stock of the insane number of complications squeezed into this watch:

1.  Dual time zones
2.  2nd time zone can be set to any time you want, to the nearest minute
3.  Jumping hour complication for travel time
4. Hacking and zero reset for second hand
5. Two power reserve indicators (for home and travel times)
6.  Dual Wing system
7.  Projection indication of 2nd time zone
8.  Day/night indicator for travel time zone

Finally, an obligatory shot of the fabulous movement and also a guide showing the time zone for various cities:

JLC have crushed the travel time watch category with this watch.  The dial is tastefully done with a beautiful grainy finish. The white gold case is perfect for a technical time piece  and the bezel is rounded unlike the flatter bezel of the original Duometre Chronographe. The watch wears well - it is not small, but nevertheless fits my average sized wrist quite well.  I have seen the Rose Gold version, which is a little warmer, but my preference is for steel, white gold or platinum when it comes to larger watches.
