Does the stop feature stil work?
Me thinks maybe some of the Chronometre movements which did not pass the certified test were used for watches other than the Chronometers ie. Geophysic and Geomatic. An indication *could* be the stop funktion would not work anymore. (removed stoplever)

There was one Cal 883 which had a stop second, the 883 S.
The movement of the Geomatic is the K 881 G.( G for Geomatic ) and, sometimes, the 883 S. ( S for stop second ) Best, Nicolas

Your movement should not hack.
Please give me your case and movement numbers, then a picture of the movement and of the inside part of your case back. Best, Nicolas
883S vs 883 on a DSMM
I don't get your point on "your movement should not hack"... can you explain ? My initial question was on the reason why the movement in my DSMM watch is a 883S although all the other watches of this very model was equiped with a 883... why mine is differ...
Hacking means that the second hand stops.
Pleae post pics of your movement, case back, and the whole watch. Give me your case and movement number. There are many possible explanations: A new movement during a service, a re assembled watch, a rarity... Best, Nicolas

Your movement belongs to the good era.
Then, the question remains to know if the movement was changed for a " S " suring a service, or of the watc has been re assenmbled. I f you have no track about its life, I fear you will never have the answer... Best, Nicolas

Quite a heavy hand on polishing
Nice to see it back after a long wait ! :-) With all due respect for the servicing job, I think the level of polishing is much too strong for my personal liking for such a watch. The sides are mirror polished in such a fashion I don't think it has ever be...
