Indeed, the price achieved for the black memovox E855 must be a world record.
I am not really sure this will be representative of a future trend (although this watch in original condition , is a pretty rare bird), or whether it might be the result of 2 frenetic bidders outbidding each offer for the sake of not losing (some strange things sometimes happen at auctions).
It will be interesting to follow this trend, specially as 2 examples (both on their original and also rare Gay Freres bracelets) will show-up at the French auction in 2 weeks (lots 17 and lot 387, 2 similar watches, although the description has been switched between the 2, as N°17 has gilt writings while 387 is white writings, whereas the catalog states the opposite).
(and yes, there is a 3rd black memovox in the Artcurial catalog, the N°15, but I believe it will be withdrawn from the auction as it appears it has a fake black dial so I don't think they will put it under the hammer)
I agree that the Limited Edition Duometre is a disappointment, especially as I was quite happy when it was released to see that Jaeger LeCoultre had gone the Yellow Gold route for it (I am a bit fed-up with the all-pink-gold trend for modern watches - for vintage, that is another story as the proportions are the exact opposite, with maybe 95% yellow gold vs Pink back then)
