Jaeger-LeCoultre

A week with the Extreme LAB 2

I am trying to change the way I wear my watches from maniacally switching every day to wearing them for longer periods and actually enjoying them in slow-motion.

This last week I have been wearing the EL2 and had a few aha-moments.

It is a large watch, there’s no way around this. At almost 47 mm is a seriously big watch - but the shape of the case and the technical strap helps make it doable even on my office-drone wrist.

What this week reminded me of is that it is also a tall watch. I had a few ‘interactions’ with door sills, etc. With the EL2, this ends up being the door sill that has a problem. The EL2 just seems to shake off the impacts.

Another thing that I was reminded of is the dial. Not the most legible of dials, but the skeletonized dial has so much to stare at. Maybe not the amazing 3-D depth of a Datograph movement but still a sight that brings a smile to my face.

This is obviously not a dress-watch. But given that nobody dresses up anyway it basically fots right in in the casual office vibe of my current client in Sweden.

Anyway, just a few reflections from a week of wearing this marvel.
