8 weeks in a row with Jaeger Lecoultre watches only. Or how important is Jaeger Lecoultre to me

Jul 07, 2020,01:23 AM

And still counting!

A bit before the end of the lockdown in France, I started with the Amvox IIP.

Then, almost one month with 2 vintage I didn't wear for a while, the Deep Sea Alarm US and Europe.

The US:

The Europe:

And, now I am currently wearing the Duometre à Chronographe in white gold.

It is not a secret that I am a multi brand guy, with a bit more than 20 different brands in my collection, but Jaeger Lecoultre has the most important place in my heart and in number of watches.

There is something special behind each of these watches, a story, a long hunt, and a feeling which make them very unique, and which bring a lot of joy and happiness, not to say pride and intellectual satisfaction, also.

Am I saying that these four are my favorite? Hard to tell. I would prudently say that they are among my favorite, yes.

The Amvox IIP certainly is one of the coolest and most original modern chronograph.

The Duometre is, in my opinion, one of the finest modern chronograph, unique in its category with its dual wind concept.

The vintage Deep Sea Alarms? Well, they simply are among my top 10 favorite vintage watches, all brands included, with some other prestigious contenders ( Vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Rolex GMT MASTER 6542, Tudor submariner Big Crown 7924, Omega Seamaster 300 CK 2913 and Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic E 168... Only heavy weights and holy grails! )

And I didn't even mention some other excellent Jaeger Lecoultre, such as, for example, the Master Minute Repeater, which will have some wrist time in July, or the Reverso Septantième in Platinum!

That means a lot about the importance of the brand in my heart, and about the incredible diversity of Jaeger Lecoultre.

And it is the same when I think of my wish / dream list... In my Top 30, there are at least 10 Jaeger Lecoultre I would love to get, one day, such as the Gyrotourbillon One, the Duometre Unique Travel Time, the Duometre à Quantième Lunaire White Gold Enamel, the Geophysic Universal Time, one of the two Reverso Red, the Memovox Black Dial manual winding, the Reverso Tribute Duo from 2016 with its superb white grained dial, The Extreme Lab I and II, and some other I wish they will see the light one day such as a Rattrapante...

The two Duometres which became an obsession for me:

A serious brand, blending tradition, originality, innovation and quality.

Best,

Nicolas

Comparing to the calendar chrono) or the Tribute to deep sea. Like the Tribute but am afraid of buying from second hand. There is no piece aviable in my area, just many in france or the us

But its an intellectual version of showing your muscles.

And the new master control calendar share the same price tag actually. Which would you choose as your first JLC?

Thanks for your opinion! [nt]

JLC is a key pillar in haute horology. After all, every key player relied on their movements up to recent times.

I did a full day tour of their manufacturing site at Vallee de Joux a couple of years ago, and now i really appreciate everything that they do. That duometre you posted, is to die for thought!

Nicolas, is the Amvox unique in terms of the chronograph activation?

Is there anything else like it in the watch world? I don’t readily recall any other similar mechanisms.

I thought so but wasn’t sure.

On uniqueness alone it deserves a place in any collection. I think I lean towards the Amvox 7 or the 2 in Rose Gold. Also, thanks for sharing part of your JLC passion.

Both good choices.

Epic collection you have here, my friend. And it's always a pleasure to look at your vintage DSA! Thanks for sharing the pics. Cheers

Please do. LoL. The picture of those 4 is haunting me. I am officially calling them the four horsemen ;).

Boss, i’m thinking of perhaps taking the picturee, blow it and frame it to my wall. Would you be alright with it? It is your picture so I wanna make sure I got your permission 🙂

You are my spirit animal mon ami. The way we both feel about JLC makes us brothers from different mothers 🤣😂

Like you, Nico, JLC is also my favorite manufacturer for many reasons of which you already listed several. I think most of us start our journey similarly and we go through stages of collecting or purchasing. Starting with more popular brands such as Omega...

No way! :) [nt]

Totally agree! It has been a journey....

When I looked at getting my first mechanical watch JLC was a grail brand for me. The first time I saw a master RDM and the way the silver dial glowed with a subtle curve where it met the case I was hooked but it was totally out of my price range. I needed...

And you're right, each are unique.. I feel that they're very complete and has something for someone, with their different styles. I love how discreet and elegant their Master Ultra Thin series, I love how charming their Reverso and their tribute series, a...

And you did it without even sharing your MR or beautiful vintage Polaris or platinum Memovox. Just incredible!
