759 is an integrated chronograph - not modular. The 866AA and 899AC are hacking.

Chiming in because the basic movement is the 751 - a fully integrated chronograph. The calendar works is (reported to be) a module. As for why the pushers are out of alignment, I have no idea, and an explanation from JLC would be most helpful. I have no inside information, but it's obvious from an inspection of the visible components that it is the same base caliber.

We can certainly have differing opinions as to whether we are satisfied with a calendar module, but there is a BIG difference between a modular and integrated chronograph and I think it's important to clarify that the chronograph functions of the 759 are integrated.

As for the new 899, it is hacking just like the old ones (JLC already as the manuals posted online for these new movements). Where did the idea come from that they don't hack?

PS. I agree they need to get rid of the automatic label and especially the "ique" spelling that is not historically consistent for the brand.

Best,
Brandon

Initial observations on the new master control release

As a longtime advocate of strong journeyman watches with modern movements and timeless elegant simple design: I find the basic three hand/date master iteration decent, but wonder why the move from 39 to 40mm case? (The new case silhouette is lovely) My st...

Well, it's a new year.... what should we do?

Well,.. Let's make our watches bigger, and leave the movement the same size! And put a crystal on the back so you can't even pretend it's so small. Lovely in many ways,.. it will be a hit for someone, and this is understandable. I've grown far too persnic...

Yes, to be seen in the flesh, before any final judgement. I can agree on the unnecessary wording, a curious habit, indeed. As for the size of the chono subdials, a matter of taste.

Jumping date, I will have to ask. As you can imagine, it is not easy, these days, to communicate with the brands. Their informations are not top complete, either. We'll come back to all this a bit later. With real pictures. Best, Marc. Nicolas

Yes, I will! [nt]

The out of line pushers and crown

Are an unfortunate result of the modular construction. See all the various watches utilizing Dubois-Depraz chronograph modules. I don't like it.

Hopefully JLC is listening

So they can include "Hacking Second" and "Jumping Date" script on the dials next year.

;-) !! Well played !! [nt]

I completely agree with your observations

I'm looking forward to seeing these in the metal. I've always held JLC in high regard.

I agree that the misaligned chrono pushers results in a rather strange profile

The previous Master Chronograph had the pushers properly aligned with the crown but that was a fully integrated movement. I think it's a shame that they didn't retain the chronograph in the lineup, I personally think that the chrono/calendar will have les...

Yes, Mme Renier has been relatively silent since her appointment to the helm of JLC.

Aside from a a promo picture or two I would not even know she existed.
