I've enjoyed a chuckle about this myself...

And it's not just this model, either. JLC's complications have been saddled with wacky names for a while now. Add limited edition status, and it can get out of control.

2015 Collection: Jaeger-Lecoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique QP Blue.

 By: amanico : July 7th, 2015-00:00
In 2013, for the Jubilé year, Jaeger Lecoultre launched the MGT Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantième Perpetuel. In 2014, JLC released the rose gold version. And this year, it is the turn of the white gold version. For those who want to learn more about the 20...

A blue dial is always hard to resist....

But on a classic, traditional looking watch like this my choice would be the white dial. Harder choice for me would be between the white or the rose gold case.... Best Blomman

Thanks for your feedback, Blomman. The white is more classic, the blue pops out.

A matter of choice, indeed. Here, I won't say... Both, for once. ;) Best, Nicolas

Many Thanks!

Hi Nicolas, By now, I think you know which would be my choice ;-) This is a wonderful photo essay, and it does justice to the nuance of the grained texture of the dial. For all the effort JLC put into the press photos, there's a sterility to them that you...

My feelings...

 By: amanico : July 7th, 2015-05:03
Yes, it seems that JLC favors a functional " finish ", which I'd call decoration, rather than finish. In the vein of the Master Tourbillon, indeed, while I would have expected something more from a piece of that price. As for a new Watch compared to a var...

Quite possibly...

 By: Tim_M : July 7th, 2015-07:17
Indeed, I'm very fond of this watch, and my hope is to see it (and wear it) in the metal before making a decision. While I was fortunate to see virtually all of JLC's SIHH debutantes in Miami about a month ago, the TCQP Blue wasn't among them. But I do kn...

you are very talented when you write. Your last sentence is just superb.

A feast for the mind. Thank you! Best, Nicolas

Thank you, Nicolas, I only aspire to your high standard!

Words, I can manage... I cannot hope to match your photography! But when I finally get my hands on this watch, I'll be certain to recover this thread to post follow-up photos and additional impressions. Hopefully, I'll have chance to take a few shots of t...

I will have to see it again, under this different perspective, Tim.

You make me think, and I love that! Best, Nicolas

A minor criticism: why must the name be so long?

 By: cazalea : July 7th, 2015-06:17
for a watch that you will be proud to explain to friends, even saying JLC MGT TC QP Blue is ridiculous. Google's processing power must stumble over "Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantième Perpetuel Bleu"! Mike

I've enjoyed a chuckle about this myself...

Thank you Nicolas. The JLCMGTT is quite a name!

The blue dial is really cool, artistic and very well balanced considering all that is going on with this watch. Bravo. I am wondering what it looks like in the sunshine, but you probably didn't get to take it outside. I actually do like the dial the best ...

I didn't take it outside, indeed. But I am pretty sure it behaves nicely.

 By: amanico : July 7th, 2015-10:27
For a good reason... The dial is matte. It will not be harsh in the sun. Maybe one day I will be able to photograph it under the sun, who knows??? Best, Nicolas

Nice

I like it if it wasn't for the pebble dash/ crèpit finish of the dial. Imho too coarse a finish for such a fine watch. The case that it shares with its predecessors is also a tad uninspired. Am I too critical? Qui bene amat... Thank you for your presentat...

I love these demanding thoughts, Z. Thanks for your feedback.

I would have loved a more decorated movement. I wonder if a manual winding movement would not have been a better choice, to say all... Best, Nicolas

Nice overview

It is a nice offer from JLC but however, I must say I have mixed feelings concerning this watch and guess I can't decide until I see it in the metal (I only saw last year's white dial version). I imagine the dial looks great in blue, JLC has nice dial tex...

Agreed on what you said about the Duometre. For me, more interesting than this one.

 By: amanico : July 7th, 2015-15:44
But you know my unconditional ( or almost ) love for the Duometre... ;) Best, Nicolas

I like it...

I should say I like the artistry of the piece. I wonder whether it is too "flashy" and seeing it live I am sure is necessary. A question on the relief engraving on the rotor of the gold medal brought back by Jaeger-LeCoultre from the Universal Exhibition ...

Nice...although

that only raises the interest more :) I now wonder what each represent.

Blue Tourbillon

is very beautiful, but white dial from 2013 is more discreet and match for my taste:-) Ronald
