What are their replacements in the stable?

the Portuguese has always been my cup of tea in terms of styling and masculinity, sad to hear about the issues.

They still sell them and people are buying them. But on my wrist there were issues with both the base movements and the perpetual calendar module.

attention, however slight, concerning robustness, was looked into by IWC.

I've had great luck with my 5002 BP movement. My Miramar big BP stopped but was due for service anyway, which was handled quickly by the Texas service center. I'm sad to hear the perpetual module is not good. I was hoping to add one to my life eventually....

Mine is the updated, twin barrel caliber, and has run smoothly for three years. (Knock on wood...) ...

7" + wrist seems to let me get away with up to 45mm diameter, assuming short, curved lugs.

BTW, IWC is reducing the PPC size back to 42 mm this year.

Though it's been so long since I've seen the earlier 42mm model in the metal that I can't remember if the subdials felt cramped. Still, a much more wearable size...
