It’s interesting to hear that you’ve come from smartwatches to jump in with a mechanical perpetual calendar. There was talk amongst the watch industry that the smartwatch was going to kill the mechanical watch market, like the quartz watch nearly did. However, I see them complementing each other at different price points.
How did you arrive at choosing this IWC as your first mechanical watch? Do miss the functionality of a smartwatch when wearing your IWC?

Welcome here, as others have said that’s a pretty big entry not just to the forum but to mechanical watches.
If one tries to bridge the gap between smart watch and mechanical watch functionality then the Perpetual or Perpetual Chronograph would be a logical first choice.

This is a fabulous one..
Congratulations! You now own a watch to tell time all the way to 2047 without making any adjustment. I have seen different versions of perpetual dial face and color and this is one of the best. Love it. Wear it in good health. /W72
