IWC

Another interesting topic that consumers don't think about...

Let's say you get a new watch; it has a COSC rating, or a METAS rating, or some other accuracy rating. This usually means the watch or the movement went to a laboratory for a thorough accuracy test. But after the watch is out of warranty, the rating is theoretically lost as the rating is only promised during the warranty period. Also, after servicing the watch (which we do every few years), the watch isn't re-certified. And while theoretically, the watch is capable of high accuracy since it had gotten the rating before, we don't know if it'll actually qualify for that rating... So... Do accuracy ratings really matter? And thus, does a Patek Philippe Seal - which follows the watch for 2 years after servicing (and has a rating certification of -2/+2) mean more? Just another thought to think about... Most people after thinking about this start to think that these COSC ratings mean a little bit less.
