Can't imagine it's no different than an automatic movement that you can manually wind to start up. Just requires you to push in the crown and thread the screws.
But the idea of a hand-wound movement is that you wind the watch daily and, hopefully, find great pleasure in doing so. Therefore, having to unscrew the crown every time before winding would be not only unusual but also not very welcome among winding afic...
