Something unusual by SpeakeMarin...

 

Hi all,

Recently had a chance to view this piece from a friend smile Like to share a few photos with you guys. Truely a work of art, Maki-e art to be precise, by a Japanese Maki-e master....and this one is a symbol of longevity, TsuruKame (Crane and Turtle) unique to 1 piece only.

Note the 3 mother of pearl smile

Under different lighting....note the texture and detail on the body of the turtle and crane. Simply impressive.

We'd often seen skeleton dials, enamel dials, guilloche dials but very seldom do we see a Maki-e dial. I find this to be very unique and will be a great addition to any collectors' watch collection. It just instantly turn the watch into an artpiece imho. Great idea by Speake Marin smile

The Piccadilly is a lovely watch on itself already but with this dial it's amazing. The Crane and the Turtle are made so beautiful. Thanx for sharing.

This is the most beautiful Maki-é dial I have seen yet from PSM.

He doesn't do the dial work himself, but Peter is a great judge of beauty with a unique talent for identifying and reeling in the skills of others to complement the beauty of his watches. I wonder whether this piece has the PSM in-house movement powering ...

I also agree, this is the most beautiful Maki-e I've seen by Speake-Marin. Master artist Mushu must be very proud of his creation. Such a pity that he chose only to create one piece.

So you know about this range by PSM...not many appreciate Maki-e dials or perhaps not many have known about it since very very few watches have them as dial, in fact PSM is the first fine watch that i know of that has a Maki-e dial, apart from some LE Cre...

And for bringing to my attention that Credor also has Maki-e dials. I'm going to do more research about those watches soon. It's very difficult to recreate Maki-e; the pen companies have a hard time replicating each maki-e painting and I think they do use...
