RRCC II - there couldn't be a better way for Rexhep to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AkriviA !

May 31, 2022,09:05 AM

The Chronomètre Contemporain II or RRCC II marks the second generation of timepiece from the atelier.

while the timepiece retains the AkriviA design language, RRCC II brings in a complication into this simple dress timepiece…a Jumping sub-seconds with the hacking zero-reset when the crown is pulled out….

RRCC II is offered in two variations,

Platinum case with Grand feu Black enamel dial

Rose Gold case with Grand feu Ivory enamel dial

The cases are hand-made by Mr Hagmann with traditional tools and bears his famous JPH hallmark.

At 38mm x 8,75mm with a curved and long lugs, it is classically proportioned.

Yes, the steel hands in the RG version is heated to purple finish, not blue !

The sub-dial on the Platinum version has a hand-engraved gratté pattern similar to the only watch’ and is made with  Grey enamel’

The markings on both the dials are done out of ‘enamel’ not pad-printing….

The new manually wound movement has twin gear trains arranged symmetrically, but dedicates one train for the jump-seconds feature. The heart beats at 3 Hz (21600 VPH), brings in 82 hours power reserve, lever escapement but surpass the RRCC 1 in terms of precision. The new calibre gains 60% more inertia with newly designed balance wheel that uses regulating screws versus the circular weights in RRCC1.

Finishing of Rexhep has been always to the pinnacle and CC II is no exception. For example, the wheels of the going trains, which are finished with hand-polished bevels on their spokes and inner edges, resulting in 140 inward angles across the wheels of both trains.

All markings on the movement bridges are engraved by hand ! Youll find hand decorated Côtes de Genèveperlage; circular graining; anglage with polished inward angles, black-polished steel screws etc

My final thoughts... RRCC II at first glance gives a ‘deja vu’ feel to it, but once you spend time with it, one will see a clear attempt from Rexhep to rethink, improve on every area with plenty of first-of-its kind novel touches.

It is true, We’re used to a jumping central second and some of us might prefer that way too but then it is how Rexhep perceives his timepiece….

My personal preference would be the Platinum-Black dial version, it is stunning but knowing it is limited to 50 pcs in each metal I might continue dreaming about it.

Thanks for your time & hope you enjoyed reading this.

P.S - Credits to AkriviA for sharing the press photos for PuristSPro.

Destined to be another iconic watch from Rexhep.

I agree Mahesh

It may seem to be expensive but it is actuially quite good vlue for money based on the work that has gon into the movement. This is why there is a minimal difference in the price of the steel and gold models.

Please do all order the platinum with black dial

 By: Bruno.M1 : May 31st, 2022-09:59
Cause I would do almost everything to get the red gold one 😁

I too am partial to the rose gold model.

I believe the dial is not in white enamel any longer but an ivory dial and the finishing of the CC2 is an improvement on the CC1. And it is actually slimmer tha the CC1 though more complex which in itself is an achievement. The lugs are also slimmer than ...

true, it is ivory enamel and also the printing on the dial are enamel too (not ink)...

 By: mahesh : May 31st, 2022-10:41
the lugs curve, so I expect it sits better on most wrists. sure, a better timepiece than CC1 which already is quite good.

Thanks Mahesh for your comments

I feel that the movement is definitely more comples and so is the dial. The CC1 is of course more wearable and has beautiful symmetrical movement.

he he...I wish I could order 1 platinum...let alone all

A dream

I do agree...the black enamel is quite impressive on the Pt case

I think the black-enamel is pretty well done with a nice touch on sub-seconds, it is tempting ;-) RG is classic & ageless timepiece imho

Agree 💯.

 By: Watchonthewrists : May 31st, 2022-17:24
The black is a bit more modern and the RG more classic but both timeless beauties

It could be limited to the retailer as well, will try to look around.

I would presume so

 By: mahesh : May 31st, 2022-16:54

No plans to visit Paris this summer ?

None at present.

 By: TheMadDruid : June 1st, 2022-14:21
Probably in 2024.

Anyone know if these can really be ordered?

 By: m2 : June 1st, 2022-05:16
Or are they sold out?

I believe it is still available, so worth to reach him

 By: mahesh : June 1st, 2022-07:25
Retailer allocation naturally would have been booked I suppose!

Not only are they all sold out

 By: Cozmopak : June 1st, 2022-16:37
But I know of two individuals who were promised one (one of whom has placed money down) and now are being told that they might not get it. That is pretty terrible in my opinion.

that's hard...with retailer ?

 By: mahesh : June 1st, 2022-19:17
that from any brand would be unacceptable, a promise is a promise.

No, direct from Akrivia

 By: Cozmopak : June 1st, 2022-19:32

I agree with you, that isn't a good approach...

 By: mahesh : June 1st, 2022-19:38
as I said, promise is a promise.

Looks pretty good and true to form. I already received my “sorry, you did not get allocated” email from one point of sale.

I can’t recall if it was 2018 or 2019 when I placed my interest. Its good they followed up, even if it was a “no”. In any event, the CC1 was a bargain and people knew it. This CC2 seems priced more at fair market value and so my guess is many will lose th...
